School of Power and Mechanical Engineering (Wuhan University), located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is an engineering college focusing on mechanical engineering and energy power engineering, and is an important talent training and scientific research base for China's energy power and equipment industry.
1933, the School of Engineering of Wuhan University established department of mechanical engineering; 1952, Wuhan University established the Institute of Water Conservancy; 1953 the department of mechanical engineering of Wuhan university was separated from Wuhan university to form Huazhong university of science and technology; 1954 Wuhan University Water Conservancy College was separated from Wuhan University to form Wuhan Water Conservancy College.
Wuhan Institute of Water Conservancy 1958 was renamed Wuhan Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, 1993 was renamed Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, and the new Wuhan University was founded in 2000. The School of Power and Mechanical Engineering of Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Wuhan Surveying and Mapping University merged to form the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering of Wuhan University.
