Zhouzhai Town vigorously implemented the "project of increasing livestock income and enriching people", and animal husbandry became the leading industry of economic development. In 2004, the output value of animal husbandry was 40.8 million yuan, and more than 400,000 livestock and poultry were raised, including 39,694 pigs, 228,349 birds and 2,385 rabbits. The output of livestock and poultry is more than 4,000 tons, including 3,350 tons of meat, 2 tons of poultry 1 124 tons of milk. The per capita net income of animal husbandry was 543 yuan, and the output of animal husbandry increased by 25% compared with 2003. Each village has 19 pig associations, 16 sheep associations and 13 chicken associations with 6700 members. The establishment of the association has effectively solved the problems of feed supply, sanitation and epidemic prevention, technical exchange, transportation and circulation for farmers.
The town has expanded the scale of animal husbandry through the way of "leading the way". Wang Shuqin, a young woman returning from Zhaolou Village, founded the Daxing Pig Farm, which promoted the surrounding people to develop aquaculture through the way of "company+farmers", and formed a consortium with hundreds of surrounding farmers to implement unified supply of cowboys, unified epidemic prevention, unified feed processing and unified sales, thus making the surrounding farmers rich. Nowadays, several villages centered on Daxing Pig Farm have become important pig breeding bases in Dangshan County. Tianmu Pig Farm, Tian Weidong Goat Farm, Lihua Bay Chicken Farm and a large number of other large-scale breeding households have driven many unique animal husbandry and breeding bases through radiation.
