What's the difference between 304 stainless steel and 306 stainless steel?

There is no 306 stainless steel in the national standard stainless steel model. You may be talking about 3 16 stainless steel,

The difference between 304 stainless steel and 3 16 stainless steel;

1, with different chemical compositions:

3 16 has 2-3 nickels more than 304. The standard composition of 304 stainless steel is 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It is a non-magnetic stainless steel, and its metallographic structure will not be changed by heat treatment. GB brand is 0Cr 18Ni9.

2. Different performance:

The strength and hardness of 304,316 are similar. The difference between them is that the corrosion resistance of 3 16 is much better than that of 304. The key point is that molybdenum is added to 3 16, which improves the heat resistance.

3, the scope of application is different

304 stainless steel is widely used in common curtain walls, side walls and roofs, but 3 16 stainless steel is a good choice in some seriously corrosive industrial or marine atmospheres.

Adding molybdenum element makes it obtain a special corrosion-resistant structure. Because it has better chloride corrosion resistance than 304, it is also used as "marine steel".
