Explanation of terms in patent drawings: pictures attached to patent invention specifications to help explain the content of the invention. In order to facilitate the public to understand and implement the technical features of the invention, the applicant may attach one or more drawings to the specification, including schematic diagram, circuit diagram, schematic diagram or process flow chart. The description shall describe the names and functions of the components in the drawings. The attached drawings can be basic views, oblique views and sectional views.
The size and clarity of the attached drawings should ensure that all the details in the drawings can still be clearly distinguished when the drawings are reduced to 2/3. The reference numerals used in the same application shall be consistent. Marks not mentioned in the description of the invention or utility model shall not appear in the attached drawings. The appended drawings shall not contain other notes except necessary words.
According to Article 33 of the Patent Law, the applicant shall not modify the application documents beyond the scope recorded in the original specification (including the appended drawings) and the claims. In other words, all the amendments shall not add content, otherwise it will be beyond the scope of the original instructions and other records, and it needs to be based on the complete application documents. If the application documents are incomplete, supplementary materials will be notified, and the application date will be changed to the submission date or mailing date of supplementary materials.
