Tincture, pinyin is: dīng jì.
Tincture refers to a clear liquid preparation made by extracting or dissolving the raw drug with ethanol of a specified concentration. It can also be made by diluting the liquid extract. Can be taken internally or externally. Unless otherwise specified, the concentration of tinctures containing highly toxic drugs (medicinal materials) is equivalent to 10g of the original drug per 100ml; for other tinctures, each 100ml is equivalent to 20g of the original drug.
Tinctures can be divided into three categories: Chinese herbal medicine tinctures, chemical drug tinctures and tinctures made of Chinese herbal medicine and chemical drugs. Chinese herbal medicine tinctures are further divided into poisonous medicinal material tinctures and other medicinal material tinctures.
Preparation method
1. Dissolution method or dilution method.
Take the powder or liquid extract of the medicinal materials, add an appropriate amount of ethanol of the specified concentration, dissolve or dilute, let it stand, and filter if necessary.
2. Dip method.
Take appropriately crushed medicinal materials, place them in a covered container, add an appropriate amount of solvent, seal tightly, stir or shake, soak for a specified time, pour out the supernatant, then add an appropriate amount of solvent, and soak until effective according to the law. The ingredients are fully leached, the leaching liquids are combined, the solvent is added to the specified amount, left to stand for 24 hours, filtered, and the product is obtained.
3. Percolation method.
Percolate with an appropriate amount of solvent until the effluent reaches the specified amount, then let it stand and filter to get it.
Precautions during the preparation and storage of tinctures
1. Different ethanol concentrations have different solubility of each ingredient in the medicinal materials. When preparing tinctures, the solubility of the active ingredients should be Choose an appropriate concentration of ethanol to reduce the impurity content in the tincture. The minimum concentration of ethanol in the tincture is 30 (ml/ml).
2. Precipitation will occur when the tincture is stored for a long time, which can be removed by filtration, and then the ethanol and active ingredient content are measured and adjusted to the specified standards.
