In 20021MSU World Video Encoder Competition, Tencent266 encoder independently developed by Tencent won the first place in the most competitive off-line high-definition tracks Y-VMAF and Y-PSNR. Huawei HW266 encoder won the first place in YUV-SSIM and YUV-MS-SSIM in slow circuit (extreme compression field). After 20 18 and 20 19 won the championship again.
Both companies have won the championship in different tracks, which shows that both domestic companies have strong strength in the field of video coding and decoding.
It is worth mentioning that these two 266 encoders are independently developed based on the latest H.266 standard. H.266 international codec standard is the latest video codec standard released in 2020, which can reduce the amount of data by half without changing the video quality. Huawei has contributed many standard proposals, applied for many patents, and won the first prize of this year's National Technology Invention Award, which is the key technology for encoding and decoding polymorphic primitive of ultra-high-definition video, and was jointly completed by Huawei (including its Hisilicon) and Peking University.
It is hoped that more domestic enterprises will invest and occupy more patents belonging to China.
