About China's Invention (Modern)

These are four new inventions selected by China.

1973, under the leadership of Yuan Longping, the pioneering work of "three lines" of rice hybridization was finally completed, making China the first country in the world to successfully utilize heterosis in rice production. Based on this, Yuan Longping published the view that rice has heterosis, which broke the forbidden area of self-pollinated crop breeding in the world and completely overturned the assertion of western scholars that "self-pollinated crops have no heterosis" for decades.

After 1974, hybrid rice technology was popularized throughout the country. From 1974 to 1978, the rice yield in China increased from 300 kg to 600 kg. After more than 20 years, due to the research results of Yuan Longping and his research group, the technical problem of "excellent but not early, early but not excellent" of early hybrid rice was successfully solved, and early and late-maturing crops were realized.

1September, 1975, Professor Wang Xuan's high-magnification font information compression technology and high-speed font reduction technology were further matured and realized in the computer through software.

At the end of 1976, Professor Wang Xuan wrote the Scheme Description of 748 Project Chinese Character Precision Phototypesetting System, and Professor Wang Xuan's design concept was finally accepted by people.

The Chinese character laser phototypesetting system was designed in the period of 1975- 1976, when it was closed to the outside world! ! !

In 1960s, scientists in China synthesized crystalline bovine insulin for the first time. The synthesis of artificial bovine insulin marks a key step in the journey of understanding life and exploring the mysteries of life, and its significance and influence are enormous.

This is the first time that human beings have artificially synthesized a living protein. In the past, the world generally believed that life was natural, and most people thought that it was impossible to synthesize life artificially. The people of China made it possible for the first time.

Compound artemether: Compound artemether is the first drug with a brand-new chemical structure discovered in China, and it is also widely recognized internationally as an original drug in China. By the end of 2005, it has been designated as the first-line drug for malaria treatment by 26 Asian and African countries, which is a milestone in the history of malaria treatment.

Compound artemether is still the only patented drug widely recognized and sold in the world in China, and it is also the only drug truly going global in China.

The birth of compound artemether began in the 1960s. 1On May 23rd, 967, Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou personally directed and deployed the "523 Project". This major project, named after the commencement date, kicked off the research and development of new antimalarial drugs in young China. 1972, researchers finally extracted artemisinin from Artemisia annua, and conducted clinical trials in Yunnan, Hainan and other areas with high malaria incidence in 1973. Artemisinin is the first chemical developed in New China, marking a historic breakthrough in the research and development of new drugs in China. Artemisinin has the characteristics of fast, high efficiency and not easy to produce malaria resistance, and is praised as a "milestone" in the history of antimalarial drug research by the international community. It not only contributed to the eradication of malaria in China, but also opened a new page for the cause of malaria control in the world. Since then, researchers in China have made great strides in the fight against malaria, and developed more effective derivatives such as artemether on the basis of artemisinin. In order to overcome the drug resistance of plasmodium, experts from China Academy of Military Medical Sciences combined artemether with benflumetol to develop a new drug compound artemether. Compound artemether not only has the advantages of high cure rate, but also has the characteristics of delaying the emergence of drug resistance, which can be called the "nemesis" of drug-resistant malaria.

Artemisinin extracted from Artemisia annua is recognized by the international community as one of the two most influential drugs in China. Artemisinin-based combination therapy can take effect in 3 days, which is 4 days less than traditional chloroquine therapy. In clinical application for more than 30 years, no drug resistance of plasmodium was found.

At the beginning of 2004, the World Health Organization accepted the allocation from the Global Fund, and planned to invest $65.438+0-200 million annually in five years to purchase compound drugs mainly from Artemisia annua from China for African countries as the first choice of global antimalarial drugs.

Since 199 1, a total of 63 countries and regions and relevant international patent organizations have applied for the patent of compound artemether. By 2002, they had obtained the invention patent of compound drugs in 49 countries and regions such as China, the United States, Japan, Australia and Europe, becoming the first chemical in China to obtain a patent internationally, and also enjoying the invention patent protection of compound drugs internationally.
