How to set the mini repeater mode of Mercury router;
Mercury mini-series wireless router is a real plug-and-play wireless router. When staying in a hotel for business or tourism, you only need to plug the network cable provided in the hotel room into the Ethernet port of the equipment and then plug it into the power socket, and the whole room will realize Wi-Fi wireless coverage. At this point, you can take out your notebook, Wi-Fi mobile phone, iPad or any other device that supports Wi-Fi wireless Internet access and surf the Internet wirelessly anywhere in the room. At the same time, Mercury Mini series wireless routers have a variety of wireless modes, and wireless networking is flexible and convenient. Take MW 150RM as an example to introduce its setting method.
The repeater mode uses the wireless relay function of the equipment to relay and amplify the wireless signal, forming a new wireless coverage area, and finally achieving the purpose of expanding the wireless network coverage. Its networking mode is as follows:
It is assumed that the computer and mobile phone want to surf the Internet, but the signal of MW 150R cannot reach the computer. At this time, we can add a MW 150RM in the middle to relay the signal of MW 150R, so that computers and mobile phones can access the Internet. We can set MW 150RM as the relay of MW 150 R. Please refer to the following steps for the specific configuration process.
I. Configuration of MW 150R
As a wireless signal source, MW 150R is connected to the Internet by default. The following parameters are mainly wireless configuration.
SSID:SSID is the name of the wireless network and enters the management interface of MW 150R (default is 192. 168. 1). Click? Running state? , view the device? Wireless status? , write down the SSID number of the wireless network and the MAC address of the wireless state, as shown in the following figure:
Wireless encryption: namely the wireless encryption mode of MW 150R. What is the mainstream encryption method at present? WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK？ , encryption algorithm recommended choice? AES？ , click? Wireless Settings Wireless Security Settings? , check the PSK password (in this case: 123456789), as shown in the following figure:
Second, the configuration of MW 150RM
Step 1: In MW 150 R AP mode, the DHCP server is not turned on by default, so it is impossible to automatically allocate the IP address of the computer wireless network connection. You need to configure the IP address before logging into the management interface of the router. Set the IP address of the computer wireless network connection to192.168.1.x (1? x？ 252), and the subnet mask is set to: 255.255.255.0, as shown in the following figure. After the setting is completed, click? Are you sure? Take effect. What is the default management IP address of MW 150RM? 192. 168. 1.253? .
Wired or wireless connection of computer MW 150RM (for example, wireless connection of Windows XP system MW 150RM). MW 150RM works in AP mode by default, and the default SSID is Mercury _PocketAP_3F8E90 (? 3F8E90？ Is the last six digits of MW 150RM wireless MAC address), and wireless security is not set. Scan the wireless network in the computer environment, select the wireless SSID of MW 150RM, and click? Connect? , connection, as shown in the figure below.
Step two: enter? 192. 168. 1.253? , enter the login account and password admin/admin, and open the management interface of MW 150RM, which will pop up automatically. Installation wizard? (You can also click the management interface menu? Installation wizard? ), as shown in the figure below.
Step 3: Click? What's next? Start setting, and the wireless working mode setting page will pop up, as shown in the figure below.
Step 4: Choose? Repeater? , click Next to pop up the wireless settings page, as shown in the figure below.
Click? Scanning? Button to scan the wireless network in the environment, and the scanning result is shown in the following figure:
Find the wireless network name (SSID) of MW 150R, as shown above, and click? Connect? And set the same encryption method and PSK password as MW 150R.
Step 5: Click? What's next? , indicating that the device needs to be restarted, as shown in the figure below.
Click? Restart? , the router automatically restarts, and the setting is complete.
Step 6: After the setting is completed, the wireless network connection of the computer will be automatically disconnected. At this time, MW 150RM is the relay amplification of MW 150R, and the SSID of MW 150RM is Mercury _37CA28 instead of Mercury _PocketAP_3F8E90. And the network is set with WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK wireless security. At this time, it is necessary to reconnect MW 150RM. During the connection, you need to enter the wireless PSK password MW 150RM (123456789 in this example), as shown in the following figure.
Note: After the relay is successful, the wireless signal sent by MW 150RM has the same SSID and encryption method as the signal of the main route, indicating that there are two identical wireless signals in the environment at this time. However, when the wireless configuration software of Windows operating system searches for signals (as shown above, it is the wireless configuration software of windows7 system), no matter how many wireless signals there are, only the one with the strongest signal will be displayed. So if the main router is far away from your computer, but MW 150RM is close (in general, the signal of MW 150RM is stronger than that of the front-end main router). At this time, the signal can be directly connected to MW 150RM.
Step 7: After reconnecting MW 150RM, use the ping command on the computer to detect the connectivity between MW 150RM and MW 150R in repeater mode. Ping the management IP address of MW 150r on the computer (in this case:192.168.1.1).
If you can ping (as shown above), the relay is successful. If you can't ping, please recheck the configuration, especially whether the wireless encryption method and PSK key are entered correctly.
Step 8: After the configuration is completed, please reset the IP address of the wireless network connection to the original configuration (usually automatically obtain the IP address), and click? Are you sure? In order to connect to the Internet normally, as shown in the following figure:
Note: What is the default management IP address of MW 150RM? 192. 168. 1.253? In order to prevent IP address conflict, the IP address of the local area network port of MW 150RM must be set to be different from the IP addresses of all devices in the wired local area network (generally, it does not need to be modified). Can it be in the menu? Network parameters LAN port settings? After modifying the IP, click? Save? , the router will automatically restart. As shown in the figure below.
At this point, MW 150RM repeater mode configuration is completed. At this time, MW 150RM is the relay amplification of MW 150R, so the wireless SSID sent by the computer after searching MW 150RM is Mercury _37CA28 instead of Mercury _PocketAP_3F8E90.
