The Great Wall Shanhai Gun does give a good impression statically, but whether it can break through the inherent impression of pickup trucks depends on the actual performance on the road. At present, the Great Wall Shanhai Gun has two power models: gasoline and diesel. The gasoline version is equipped with a 3.0T V6 engine and has a 48V light mixing system. Because of the vehicle deployment, we test-drive the diesel version (the dynamic shooting vehicle is V6 gasoline version), and the test drive is not the final mass production test vehicle, so the experience gained is limited to the vehicle itself. This exclusive version of 2.4T diesel engine is equipped with a newly developed 2.4T diesel engine, with VGT variable cross-section turbine technology, and the thermal efficiency is as high as 42%. The data also performed well, with the maximum power 135kW/3600rpm and the peak torque of 480n m/1500-2500rpm, matching the 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Before starting the test drive, I was not optimistic about the power performance. Although the engine parameters are good, the self-weight of Shanhai gun exceeds 2500kg, and it needs three people to ride during the test drive, which is undoubtedly a heavy burden for the engine. However, Shanhai cannon has dispelled my doubts at the moment of departure. The response of the throttle is quite direct, and I even feel a little "rushed" when driving for the first time. The initial strength came quickly. The performance of the gearbox is also commendable. Many times, it is difficult to feel its existence. The shift is smooth and rapid, and only at low speed will you feel a little resistance.
The advantage of low torque of diesel engine brings a light daily driving experience. In many cases, the engine has enough torque to drive the vehicle from 1000 rpm. However, this does not mean that it has a strong acceleration ability. Just like the gasoline version, it won't have stronger performance. On the contrary, with the increase of engine speed, the vehicle will lose its dominant power output range. The correct way is to control the throttle smoothly, and use the low torque and light acceleration of the diesel engine to always feel the thick torque output. Instantaneous acceleration is better than that of the 3.0T V6 model, and the diesel version needs to reserve more space when overtaking.
The dynamic performance of the diesel version is in line with expectations, and I personally think it is more suitable for the positioning of Shanhai cannon. After all, this positioning pickup truck does not pursue absolute speed, but the low torque advantage of diesel engine combined with excellent fuel economy. Of course, if there is a higher demand for power, then the version of 3.0T V6 is undoubtedly a more suitable choice. Combined with the performance of other models on the tank platform, I believe that those in power will not be disappointed.
The comfort performance of the chassis exceeds the expected off-road performance and is guaranteed.
Compared with handling, comfort is an aspect worthy of detailed discussion. The chassis of Shanhai gun adopts the common front double wishbone/rear multi-link integral bridge structure at the same level. This suspension structure pays more attention to the performance of comfort. While ensuring off-road performance, the front suspension is also made of aluminum alloy to provide more agile suspension response.
Suspension can better absorb the bumps on the road, while retaining a certain sense of road. It feels like a knife passing through butter, which can effectively sense the vibration of the road surface, but there will be no annoying bumps, and the bounce of the rear cargo hopper is also effectively controlled. Of course, don't expect off-road pickup trucks to completely compromise comfort. For example, the impact of two rear wheels on the road at the same time is obviously not a strong project of the whole bridge. At this time, more vibration will be transmitted into the car, but it is still acceptable. In terms of handling, the steering feel is neutral, the body dynamics are not slow, and it also has a good response to the driver's steering input. Of course, violent driving is not.
