PTA is purified terephthalic acid, which is the main raw material for producing polyester fiber, resin, film and container resin, and is widely used in chemical fiber, container, packaging, film production and other fields.
From the perspective of industrial chain relationship, the raw material of PTA is PX (xylene), and the raw material of PX is petroleum. PTA is the raw material of polyester, and PET is the raw material of polyester. Chemical fiber is 80% polyester, and chemical fiber accounts for 65% of textile raw materials. In this production chain, PTA used in polyester accounts for about 70% of the total, and the remaining 25% is used in bottles.

PTA is a capital-intensive and technology-intensive industry, and the domestic investment in this project is at least 2 billion yuan. High technical requirements, need to buy foreign patents. The construction period often takes 2-3 years.
Statistics show that in 2002, the total PTA production capacity in China was about 36.5438 million tons, and the total output gap exceeded 4 million tons.
In 2003, the domestic output was about 3.4 million tons, while the total consumption was close to 8 million tons. By May 2004, the domestic production capacity was about 4.04 million tons.
