China is known as the "infrastructure maniac" and is always able to build various large-scale projects with high efficiency. Among them, there are many ingenious ideas at home and abroad that have overcome the dangerous terrain of nature to build them. .
As soon as this hotel with the lowest altitude was completed, it attracted the attention of other countries and the media reported. This hotel is Shanghai Sheshan Shimao InterContinental Hotel. What is different from other hotels is that other hotels are being built higher and higher, reaching into the sky, vying to be the tallest building in the world. However, the Shanghai Sheshan Shimao InterContinental Hotel is built underground. There are only two floors above the ground but 16 floors below. You can feel the miracle created by manpower and technology just from the pictures. Not only is it ingenious, but the design is also very beautiful and majestic, perfectly integrating with the surrounding natural environment.
Before this hotel was built, there was a huge pit here, which was left here after a former mining pit was abandoned. Looking from above, the big hole in the ground looks like a big scar. It took 12 years to turn the deep pit here into a unique and beautiful hotel.
You may not have any idea. Even if the pit is very deep, there are many underground bases. Why did this hotel take 12 years?
In fact, 12 years was just the cost of construction. Before the start of construction, the design team almost wanted to go bald because of this deep pit, and it took 7 years to come up with a design plan. Do you think this is a third-rate design team? No, no, it’s the world’s top design team. The famous Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai was created by the same person. The ingenuity of the design and the Chinese engineers turned the unimaginable into reality. They worked together and it took nearly 20 years to present such a beautiful building to the world.
But even the top Chinese engineers in the world were shocked when they saw the designer's drawings. It's like the conflict between the painter and the modeler in the game. This design is so good, but how to make it? The technical issues involved in this unprecedented low-altitude hotel were enough to give the construction team a headache. When it is built, everyone is amazed and it is a dazzling masterpiece; but if it fails, it will become the talk of others after dinner.
Look, what kind of reverse construction, transportation on the cliff, etc., just listening to it makes me scared. Moreover, I have searched all over the world and found various cases to draw reference from, because there is none. If so, it will be an analysis case that will become a reference on other people’s desks after the construction is successful.
After the construction started, it was just the first step. How to transport the workers and materials into such a deep pit? Commonly used plank roads and elevators are not feasible on this special terrain and are not safe. Finally, through various simulations, a column with a height of more than 80 meters was built in a deep pit, with elevators installed at both ends and stabilized by the cliff. At least the first hurdle of reverse transportation has passed. But the second level is coming soon.
Everyone knows that concrete is needed for construction, but they don’t know that in the past when high-rise buildings were built, the concrete was not just lifted up casually, but was pumped up from the bottom up using medical high-pressure pumps. . Going down, the pit is 80 meters deep. If you throw concrete directly to the bottom of the pit, is it any different from throwing an object from 80 meters to the ground? Moreover, the concrete will separate the stones and mortar during the descending process. The engineers spent a lot of time on this hurdle, using buffer meters and modifying the concrete formula, and finally solved the problem.
Did you think it was over? Of course not. It can also be seen from the physical object that the hotel is a natural arc close to the cliff. However, the cliff wall is not vertical and smooth, and the load-bearing pipes usually used for building buildings cannot be used. Special special-shaped steel pipes must be used. However, load-bearing involves the safety of the entire building and must not be careless. On-site testing is also not possible, so the team spent a year on the computer just for derivation calculations.
The final product is not so much a hotel as a super-safe fortress. It can resist earthquakes, rainstorms, etc. When the project was completed, the team had 41 more patents on hand, half of which were completely new inventions from scratch.
It makes people's scalp numb. I can't wait to stay there and experience it.
Even the designer did not expect it to be realized. I can't help but sigh once again for the ability of Chinese engineers and their spiritual will to succeed despite all difficulties.
Now this beautiful hotel located on Chenhua Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai, has become one of the "Top Ten Architectural Miracles in the World". One can imagine how shocked the world is.
Not only the beautiful hotel environment and wonderful living experience, but also the supporting recreational facilities include but are not limited to: bungee jumping, rock climbing, and theme parks. Taking full advantage of the unique advantages of the terrain. What do you think? Want to see it live?
