What are the characteristics of Nobel's improved smokeless powder?
1879, Nobel started the research of smokeless powder in Sevrain-Livry laboratory on the outskirts of Paris. After eight years of experimental research, Nobel finally determined the formula: the same amount of nitroglycerin and soluble nitrocellulose, plus 10% camphor. Nobel named this new explosive: mixed smokeless powder, also known as "Nobel explosive", or "C.89". This smokeless explosive was patented in France for the first time.
