In the past, traditional car companies were very firm in the horizontal screen faction, but from Tesla, the vertical screen opened a "new world." Since then, two different design styles of horizontal screen and vertical screen have been adopted by the majority of car companies. Of course, some of them have continued to expand in size and evolved into "square screens". However, in order to take into account the use of horizontal and vertical screens at the same time, some car companies have introduced the concept of rotatable central control panel and applied it to cars. So, what are their advantages and disadvantages in the current market and the upcoming models with rotating screen design? Let's talk together today.
Byd company limited
In BYD's product sequence, the products using rotating screen technology include BYD Tang, Song, Song Pro, Song MAX, Qin, and most pure electric or plug-in models. Regarding BYD's 12.8-inch rotating screen, BYD's engineer in charge of locomotives said: This rotating mechanism is durable, which will be about 500,000 kilometers/15 years. In addition, BYD's car system is called DiLink, and the car screen is called DiPad. Because the design is very similar to the tablet computer we usually use, and the car system rewritten based on Android has high compatibility with software, it is basically no different from the conventional tablet computer.
As for its usage scenario, DiPad supports automatic rotation, that is, when you need to use a map or other specific APP, the screen will automatically rotate into a vertical screen. Accordingly, when you turn on the video software, the screen will automatically rotate to landscape screen, and the brightness will be adjusted to the highest. In the actual experience, BYD has done a good job in adapting the application interface when switching between vertical screen and horizontal screen, but some software still can't adapt. Simply put, when the landscape screen interface is switched to the vertical screen, the software interface is still in the landscape screen state.
Weimar automobile
At present, all Weimar models are equipped with 12.8-inch intelligent rotating screen. Compared with BYD's rotating screen, Weimar's rotating screen can be rotated by virtual buttons or physical buttons on the side of the screen, but perhaps because of the main vertical screen, it can basically adapt to most functions in the vertical screen state, and users can also customize three common functions to always display the desktop. But in horizontal screen, only a few simple functions such as music and video can be adapted.
In addition, there is still a little imperfection. Watch the video horizontally when parking. If the vehicle is started, the video will automatically pause and return to the main interface, and the screen will automatically rotate to the vertical screen state. In this way, you can only watch videos and listen to music in horizontal screen, otherwise you can only switch to vertical screen setting, which always gives people the feeling of "rotating for the sake of rotation", and the experience is still a bit lame.
Singularity iS6
As the first product of Singularity Automobile, iS6 is still far away from the market, but at major auto shows, Cafe has already experienced the intelligent rotating screen on iS6. According to the official statement of Singularity, the design logic of this rotating screen is that users are not advised to rotate the screen while driving, but to put it forward through HUD or voice information to ensure driving safety.
In fact, this set of rotating screen has not yet adapted to the UI of landscape screen mode, including the function settings of the car bottom and third-party software. The engineer said that it will be solved through debugging in the future. However, this imperfect automobile system is still a "semi-finished product" for us. In addition, the horizontal control panel of 15.6 "will get in the way (the horizontal control panel of Tesla Model 3 is only 15"), and drivers may occasionally lift their legs and touch the corners of the screen if they are not careful.
German BMW Motor Works (Bavarian Motor Works)
On April 2 1, BMW's screen layout patent applied to China National Intellectual Property Administration was officially approved. The patent allows the owner to choose horizontal screen or vertical screen according to the specific usage scene. In addition, this screen can not only rotate through the rotating shaft, but also the owner can manually adjust the rotation angle of the screen. More importantly, unlike the above three LED screen materials, BMW will adopt organic light-emitting diode screen, which is a common screen material for mobile phones and televisions, and the display effect will be better.
Big coffee comment:
Generally speaking, the car screen is getting bigger and bigger now, and the space that can be realized is getting bigger and bigger. Therefore, in the eyes of big coffee, the rotatable screen is not just needed, and even brings additional costs to the maintenance of the rotating mechanism. What's more, the big screen itself is a transitional product in the interactive evolution of automobiles. Achieve the goals of future intelligent cockpit, voice control, HUD, etc. Will be the development direction of manufacturers. Therefore, at present, the enthusiasm of rotating big screen for manufacturers' promotion is far greater than the practicality of the product itself.
