In 1980s, NATO put forward the concept of "Personal Protective Weapon" (PDW), aiming at finding a compact automatic gun for soldiers' close-range self-defense campaign or urban anti-terrorism. Under this concept, various compact submachine guns have been developed, such as FN P90, and the protagonist IDW "bushman" is one of them.
Bushman was planned by George Ilovega and Richard West in England. The planning action began at 1989, and the sample gun was exhibited at 1990. It was once called the smallest submachine gun in history, even smaller than the scorpion submachine gun.
Buschman looks like an automatic pistol and fires conventional 9× 19mm ammunition. The shell is made of aluminum alloy, the standard length is only 276mm, and the weight is 2.9kg, which is not much bigger than the ordinary pistol. However, the socket of the case is not at the handle, but in front of the trigger holder, which can be used as the front handle for stable shooting.
This gun directly uses the patented technology obtained by the planner before, which may be the reason why the prototype machine gun can be produced quickly. The submachine gun adopts the principle of automatic recoil, and the recoil stroke is very short. If it is not restricted, the theoretical maximum firing rate can reach 1400 rounds per minute, which is obviously difficult to control. Therefore, an electronic speed regulating device is installed in the handle to reduce the speed by controlling the bolt to get rid of the iron resistance.
Theoretically, the service life of this governor can reach 30,000 engines, and it is battery-powered. Because it controls the movement of iron resistance, it has nothing to do with the recoil of the bolt, and it is no problem to switch to other caliber ammunition. Just pay attention to the battery charge. If there is no electricity and it is not replaced, it can only be fired semi-automatically. Under normal circumstances, the governor can be adjusted between 100~ 1400 rpm.
Submachine guns can be supplied by magazines with a capacity of 12, 20 rounds or 32 rounds. There are three kinds of barrel lengths: 83mm, 152mm and 254mm, and the corresponding application range has also increased. A long barrel can hold a biped, and a muzzle can hold a silencer. There are three modes of reducer: safe, semi-automatic and full-automatic. The sight above the gun body is similar to a pistol. Later, a short picatinny rail was added to support the sight such as a laser pointer or a red dot sight.
There was no stock in the previous plan, and then a frame stock was added, which can be folded sideways and stretched backwards. The submachine gun itself can shoot smoothly, and both hands can shoot reliably. Perhaps I thought the electronic governor was unreliable, and later I replaced it with a structure similar to the automobile hydraulic shock absorption system on the bolt machine.
Buschman submachine gun was developed for many years in 1990s, during which it was resold once. Finally, it was sold to special forces, police and other units at 1999. Bushman submachine gun was completely abandoned due to the failure to obtain official orders and the bankruptcy of the company. ?
