History of Dendrimers
The name "dendritic polymer" is internationally recognized, which was first proposed by A.D. Schlueter in 1998. The earliest report on the synthesis of dendrimer can be traced back to the patent obtained by Donald A. Tomalia in 1987, which was called "rod dendrimer" at that time. Subsequently, in 1992, Percec reported in the public literature that the polymer has "tapered side chains". In 1994, the potential of dendritic polymers as cylindrical nano-objects has been widely recognized and concerned. Nowadays, many research groups in the world have made outstanding contributions to the development of dendrimers. Their work can be found in recent review articles.
