The use of Olympic symbols can be divided into commercial and non-commercial situations.
One is for commercial use. The Regulations on the Protection of the Olympic Symbol stipulates that no one may use the Olympic Symbol for commercial purposes without the permission of the owner. The image and name of the mascot of the Beijing Winter Olympics "Ice Shield" belong to the Olympic symbol determined by China laws and regulations. Without the permission of BOCOG, no one may use the image and name of "Ice Shield" for commercial purposes.
At present, the global partners of the International Olympic Committee and the official partners and sponsors of the Beijing Winter Olympics can use the image and name of "Ice Shield" commercially according to law. In addition, licensed manufacturers and retailers of Beijing Winter Olympics can produce and sell licensed goods with the image and name of "Ice Shield" according to the franchise plan of Beijing Winter Olympics.
Second, non-commercial use. Government agencies, grass-roots mass autonomous organizations, institutions and other non-profit legal persons or organizations may apply for non-commercial use of the Beijing Winter Olympics mascot "Ice Shield". Applicants who apply for the non-commercial use of "Ice Dune" shall abide by the Rules for the Non-commercial Use of Logos of the Organizing Committee for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics (BOCOG Release 19), log on to BOCOG's official website, search for the link of "Rules for the Non-commercial Use of Logos", fill in the materials as required and apply.
The licensed user shall use the "Ice Wharf" in accordance with the permitted scope, signed commitments and technical specifications formulated by BOCOG, and shall not commit any act of infringing BOCOG's intellectual property rights, nor assist any third party to commit any confusing act that may mislead people into thinking that it has a specific connection with BOCOG and Beijing Winter Olympics.
