How to judge whether it is a compound patent?

The patent publication has IPC classification number, as shown in the figure below. The classification number guided after "(5 1)". The "c" stands for "part c-chemistry; Metallurgy is generally related to chemistry.

Part c includes:

A. Pure chemistry, including inorganic compounds, organic compounds, polymer compounds and their preparation methods;

B applied chemistry, including compositions containing the above compounds, such as glass, ceramics, fertilizers, plastic compositions, coatings and petroleum industrial products. It also includes some compositions that are suitable for some purposes because of their special properties, such as explosives, dyes, adhesives, lubricants and detergents;

C some marginal industries, such as coke manufacturing, solid fuel or gas fuel manufacturing, oil and wax production and refining, fermentation industry (such as brewing and wine making) and sugar industry;

D some operations or treatments, which are either purely mechanical (such as mechanical treatment of leather and hides) or partially mechanical (such as water treatment or general anti-corrosion);

E. metallurgy, black alloy or non-ferrous alloy.

However, there are some exceptions, in which mechanical (or non-chemical) aspects have chemical aspects, such as:

Some extraction processes in A6 1K subclass;

Chemical purification of air in A6 1LA6 1L subclass;

Chemical fire extinguishing methods in A62DA62D subclass;

Chemical processes and devices in B065438+B0 1 category;

Wood impregnation in B27KB27K subclass;

Chemical analysis methods or chemical detection methods in G0 1N subclass;

G03G03 photographic materials and processes, as well as chemical treatment of general textiles and production of cellulose or paper. ..

In other cases, pure chemistry is listed in part C, and applied chemistry is listed in other parts, such as parts A, B and F, such as substances or components used for:

Plant therapy or animal therapy is included in A0 1NA0 1N subcategory;

Foods listed in category A23A23;

Ammunition or blasting equipment classified as F42F42.
