PSD format is the format of Adobe Photoshop software itself, which can store all layers, channels, reference lines, labels and color patterns in Photoshop. When saving an image, if it contains layers, it is usually saved in Photoshop(PSD) format. The saved image will have no layers.
PSD format will compress files to reduce disk space when saving, but it contains more image data information (such as layers, channels, clipping paths, reference lines, etc.). ), so it is much larger than other image files. Because PSD file retains all the original image data information, it is very convenient to modify. Most typesetting software does not support PSD format files, and must be converted into other file formats with small space occupation and good storage quality after image processing.
BMP(*。 BMP)
BMP file format is a bitmap image file format of Windows or OS2 standard, which supports RGB, index color, gray scale and bitmap style mode, but does not support Alpha channel. The file format can also support 1 ~ 24-bit format. For 4 ~ 8-bit images, the run-length coded LNG (RLE) compression scheme is a very stable format without losing data. BMP format does not support images in CMYK mode.
TIFF(*。 TIf) format
The English full name of TIFF is Tagged Image file format. It is a lossless compression format, and TIFF format is helpful for image data exchange between application programs and computer platforms. Therefore, TIFF format is a very widely used image format, which can be converted between many image software and platforms. TIFF format supports RGB, CMYK and grayscale color modes, and also supports the functions of using channels, layers and paths. Tiff format can make the part of the image transparent except the cutting path when it is put into typesetting software (such as PageMaker).
A dialog box will appear when saving the file format as Basic TIFF in Photoshop, from which you can choose the format of PC or Macintosh, and you can choose to compress the saved image file with LZW when saving. The enhanced TIFF format does not support cutting paths. In the Save As dialog box, you can choose a variety of compression methods, such as LZW, ZIP and JPEG compression methods in the compression drop-down list, to reduce the disk space occupied by files. Although the file size can be reduced, it will increase the time to open and store the file. You can also choose OC or Macintosh format.
JPEG(*。 JPG) format
JPEG, the full name of Jont Picture Expert Group in English, is a lossy compression format. Images in this format are usually used for image preview and some hypertext documents (HTML documents). The biggest feature of JPEG format is that the file is relatively small and can be compressed at high speed, which is one of the formats with the highest compression rate at present. However, JPEG format will lose some imperceptible data in the process of compression and storage, and the loss is minimal. Therefore, the saved image is not the same as the original image, and the quality is not as good as the original image, so it is best not to use this image format for printed matter.
JPEG format supports color modes of CMYK, RGB and grayscale, but does not support Alpha channel. When the image format is saved as JPEG, the JPEG Options dialog box will open, from which you can select the image quality and compression ratio. Generally, in most cases, selecting the "Maximum" option to compress an image will produce a similar quality to the original image, but the file size will be greatly reduced.
Photoshop EPS(*。 EPS) format
EPS format is a compressed PostScript format, which was developed for outputting images on PostScript printers. Its biggest advantage is that it can be previewed at low resolution in typesetting software and output at high resolution when printing. It does not support Alpha channels, but it can support cutting paths.
EPS format supports all color modes of Photoshop and can be used to store dot matrix images and phasor graphics. When storing a bitmap image, you can set the white pixels of the image to be transparent, which can support transparency in bitmap mode.
GIF(*。 GIF)
GIF format is a graphic format provided by CompuServe, which only stores RGB gradient order of up to 256 colors. It uses LZW compression method to compress files without occupying disk space. Therefore, GIF format is widely used for HTML web documents or image transmission on the Internet, but it can only support 8-bit image files.
Before saving the GIF format, you need to convert the image format to bitmap, grayscale or index color. GIF format adopts two storage formats, one is CompuServe GIF format, which can support interlaced storage format, so that the image will gradually change from fuzzy to clear when displayed on the network. Another format is GIF 89a Export, which not only supports the Ibterlace feature, but also supports transparent background and animation format. It only supports the image information of one Alpha channel.
PCX(*。 PCX)
PCX image format is the earliest image format supported by ZSOFT's brush graphics software. PCX format supports 1-24-bit images like BMP format, and can save files in RLE compression mode. PCX format can also support RGB, index color, gray, gray and bitmap color modes, but it does not support Alpha channel.
Cinematographic film (*. FLM)
The extension of this format is. FLM, which is the format used by Adobe Premiere animation software. Images in this format can only be opened, modified and saved in Photoshop, but images in other formats cannot be converted into files in FLM format. In addition, if you change the size and resolution of FLM format images in Photoshop, they cannot be reinserted into Adobe Premiere software after saving.
PICT(*。 PCI) format
The characteristic of PCI file format is that it can compress large pieces of graphics with the same color very effectively. When an image in RGB color mode is saved as an image in PICT format, a dialog box will pop up, prompting you to choose 16 bit or 32 bit as the pixel resolution of the saved image. If 32-bit is selected, the saved image file can contain channels. PICT format supports RGB, index color, grayscale and bitmap color modes, among which RGB mode also supports Alpha channel.
PNG(*。 PNG)
PNG format is a format developed by Netscape, which can be used for network pictures, but unlike GIF format, GIF format can only store 256 colors. PNG format can save 24-bit true color images, support transparent background and eliminate jagged edge, and can compress and save images without distortion. However, because PNG format does not fully support all browsers, it is much less used in web pages than GIF and JPEG formats. However, it is believed that with the development of network and the improvement of Internet transmission, PNG format will be the standard image format for future web pages.
The PNG format file supports the Alpha channel in RGB gray mode, but does not support the Alpha channel in indexed color bitmap mode. When saving an image in PNG format, a dialog box will pop up. If the staggered button is selected in the dialog box, the image will be displayed gradually from fuzzy to clear when you enjoy it in the browser.
PDF(*。 PDF)
PDF format is the document format of electronic publishing software developed by Adobe for Windows, Mac OS, UNIX and DOS systems, which is suitable for different platforms. It is based on PostScript LEVEL12 language, so it can cover dot matrix images of multiple loss images and support hyperlinks.
PDF file is a file format generated by Adobe Acrobat software, which can store multiple pages of information, including the search and navigation functions of graphic files. So with this software, you can get a mixed layout without typesetting or image software. Because this format supports hypertext connection, it is a common file for network download.
PDF format supports RGB, index color, CMYK, grayscale, bitmap and Lab color modes, and supports data information such as channels and layers. Moreover, the PDF format also supports JPEG and ZIP compressed formats (bitmap color mode does not support saving in ZIP compressed format). When saving, a dialog box will appear, from which you can select the compression method. When choosing JPEG compression, you can also choose different compression ratios to control the image quality. If you select the Save Transparency check box, you can save the attributes of image transparency.
Photo CD (*. PCD)
Photo CD format is a file of Kodak photo CD, which is stored in the CD in a read-only way. So the format can only be opened in Photoshop, not saved in Photoshop. When opening a file in PCD format, a prompt dialog box will appear, from which you can choose different resolutions to open the image. In addition, the PCD format adopts Kodak Precision Color Management System (KPCMS), which can effectively control the color mode and display mode.
