My opinion on the Gigabyte mechanical keyboard Aivia O *** uim, with a comment on the mouse Aivia Krypton

Last Friday was the Gigabyte Tech Tour 2012, and many products were announced, including displays, keyboards and mice, and wireless audio and video transmission devices. Of course, for me, the highlight is the Aivia O***uim, because after many years, Gigabyte finally launched its second gaming mechanical keyboard. The first mechanical gaming keyboard K8000 failed a few years ago (not because of poor product design, but for other reasons). In addition, the membrane-type K8100 was later launched, and it also accumulated sufficient gaming design experience. Therefore, the second mechanical keyboard O***uim launched this time is very exciting to me. Friends who know me should know that I have certain standards when it comes to keyboards. In addition to the essential requirements for the keyboard, special attention is also paid to the generation of creativity. After all, it is not so easy to see innovative elements on the keyboard. Based on my experience with the K8000 and K8100, when Gigabyte designs high-end keyboards (must emphasize high-end), in addition to a certain degree of research on the targeted group products, there will also be a certain degree of creativity. appearance, especially this mechanical keyboard. Although it is nominally the second keyboard, in terms of attitude, you can actually directly think that this is the first one they have produced. Even because of the previous failure experience, it may be more complicated than simply You have to be more cautious when making the first move. Under such circumstances, I don’t value Gigabyte’s O*** uim particularly, but which company should I value particularly? XDDDDD Before I start explaining, let me tell you my evaluation of the price of this keyboard. Within a reasonable range, I estimate it to be around 4,500. But such a price probably won’t sell well in Taiwan. It depends on whether Gigabyte is willing to stick to the 3,990 yuan level. ?

The features of Gigabyte Aivia O *** uim are as follows:

1. It goes without saying that it uses red axes. Nowadays, the new mechanical keyboard, if the four axes can only If you choose one, the red axis has the highest chance of being selected. In fact, I don’t think there is a certain axis that is most suitable for e-sports use. After all, everyone has different habits. Just listen to the reasons given by manufacturers for saying that a certain axis is most suitable for e-sports. But purely in terms of conclusion, Gigabyte was right to choose the red axis. But I was a little surprised. The quantity sold by Gigabyte should not be too small. Why not add another type of axis? For example, I think a brown shaft should also be an option. ?

2. Backlighting This should be an easy specification for a gaming keyboard to consider, but I also hope that Gigabyte can launch a lower-end version without backlighting. ?

3. N-Key rollover This keyboard can output any key. If my impression is correct, I have heard N-Key rollover. Since what I saw at the scene was the USB specification, I wasn’t sure whether it could be converted to the PS/2 interface. If it could be converted, the output of any key would not be too surprising. But if it cannot be converted to the PS/2 interface, purely in terms of USB, this is an amazing specification. Generally speaking, the USB interface is any six keys. Although there is already a way to output any key N-Key rollover, to be honest it is not that perfect. In addition, I would like to mention that it can output any six keys under USB, which some people call N-Key rollover, so I need to confirm this with Gigabyte. However, GIGABYTE's on-site briefing said: "Full-area anti-ghost keys: signals can be sent normally even if multiple people use them at the same time." If it is mentioned that multiple people use it at the same time, it should mean arbitrary key output, and it does not It would be any six keys. Just make sure whether it is under USB or PS/2 interface.

4. The volume and backlight switches are designed with the intention of a mouse wheel

This is really one of GIGABYTE's most powerful creative displays. Volume and backlight shortcut keys must of course be designed in. However, it is really remarkable that the switch that controls these two functions can be designed as a mouse wheel. However, I have a small suggestion here. If it can be designed as a segmented roller, it will feel more comfortable.

After all, most of the current mouse scroll wheels still have a segmented feel, and the segmentless scroll wheel is a minority. But I still prefer the knob-type design XD. But I still have to emphasize that the knob design is a personal subjective preference. But this does not prevent me from agreeing with the mouse wheel design. In fact, I personally think this idea is excellent.

5. Additional five G macro key designs

At the top left of the keyboard, there is an additional key design, which is basically an e-sports keyboard with more opportunities to use macro keys. Set of buttons, including five buttons G1-G5. Of course, this part also needs to be matched with their GHOST accompanying macro engine. 6. USB 3.0

Regarding this point, I can only say that it is solid XD. It has two USB ports, one of which is blue, is USB 3.0 design. Next door are the headphone and microphone jacks.

Therefore, you should be able to guess that his connector design does not only have one, but three in total.

7. The mode switching key is in the upper right corner

This title is actually very bad XD. Maybe this is not a feature of the keyboard, but in terms of design, I personally think it is Brilliant approach. He placed the mode switch (Profile) in the upper right corner. Why should he mention the "upper right corner" in particular? Because the upper right corner is traditionally the location of the button indicator light, and the mode switch itself can store five types and also has an indicator light design. , it is quite a good idea to integrate them in one place.

By the way, the mouse pad in the picture above also looks very good, with one side having a hard surface and the other side having a soft surface.

8. Hand rest

Can be disassembled.

9. The design of a lower stand

Although this is a feature that other keyboards do not have, I personally think that this is not a selling point. At most, it can only be considered a thoughtful consideration. Because the tripod is designed to strengthen the stability after installing the hand rest. It does not make sense to be used alone. ?

10. Adjustment of the position of the space key

Please pay careful attention to the position of the space key. You can see that there is a little protrusion at the bottom. This design is very good.

11. Other non-feature details In addition to the previous nine items, there are also some details that are different from other keyboards, but these details are just different and not the selling point. I will briefly mention them. Let’s take a look: 1. The printing is placed above the buttons

Needless to say, this is a design with backlight, so that’s why it is done this way. Pay special attention to the printed position of two symbols on a button.

2. There is no right window key and menu key

Because the fn and win lock keys are placed

?

Finally, on the keyboard The GHOST pattern is placed on the other end. Surprisingly, there is no glowing effect XD.

About the Gigabyte mouse Aivia Krypton Although the mouse is full of praise, it is also very funny. But my focus in this article is on the keyboard, and I won’t talk much about the mouse. I’ll talk about it in detail if I have the chance to play it. Krypton has three main features: 1. The chassis is replaceable and you can choose between Teflon feet and ceramic feet:

Generally, the mice we use have Teflon feet, but this one Krypton designed the chassis to be interchangeable, with ceramic foot pads, which feature fast movement. Second, the center of gravity transfer system

It depends on whether you want to lean left or right

3. Ultra-high dpi number

?

?

The physical resolution of this mouse is up to 8200dpi.

?

There are also some small features such as side buttons or GHOST engine. Let’s talk about it if we have a chance in the future.

?

By the way, the box containing the weights has the same design image as the keyboard scroll wheel. ?

In addition, Gigabyte also has two mice, one is called M9 and the other is called M9 ICE. They are both pretty good wireless mice. The former focuses on performance and can be operated on glass; the latter focuses on battery life and can be used for a longer time. ?
