In 1955, Rubin Braunstein of Radio Corporation of America discovered gallium arsenide (GaAs) It interacts with the infrared radiation of other semiconductor alloys, and in 1962 Nick Holonyak Jr of General Electric Company (GE) developed visible light LEDs. However, LEDs really took off in the 1990s when Shuji Nakamura of Japan's Nichia Chemical Industries Ltd. made major breakthroughs in gallium nitride (GaN) research in 1994 and 1995 and obtained blue light. LED, following the breakthrough of blue LED technology, white LED has officially launched an era of widespread LED applications.
