The 59th Institute mainly has six majors: environmental engineering, protective packaging, precision forming and special technology, lightweight, high-strength and functional materials, high-performance coating and corrosion protection. It has three national, provincial and ministerial technology research and development centers, namely, National Defense Science and Technology Industry Natural Environment Experimental Research Center, National Defense Science and Technology Industry Precision Plastic Forming Technology Research Center and Chongqing Corrosion and Protection Engineering Technology Research Center, and has built two talent training platforms, namely, postdoctoral research center and "Environmental Engineering" postgraduate training center in four directions. Since its establishment, it has won more than national, provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievement awards 100, held 5 national defense patents, passed the ISO900 1 quality system certification, and undertaken the editing and publishing of three Chinese core journals, namely Surface Technology, Packaging Engineering and Equipment Environmental Engineering, which are publicly released at home and abroad. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "Chongqing Civilized Unit" and the first batch of "Chongqing Scientific and Technological Achievements Transformation Demonstration Center" by the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
