During that time, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to it, day and night, sketching one after another according to the appearance of the energy-saving stove he imagined, and calculating the calculations over and over again. The family was in trouble and could not afford money, so Yu Ruqiang used the knowledge he learned to modify agricultural machinery for others, earning part of the income, and then used this part of the income to invest in experiments with energy-saving furnaces. After many twists and turns, he first successfully developed a coal-saving food oven by collecting waste heat from coal-fired stoves. However, this kind of stove can only meet the needs of some industrial and commercial households, and cannot yet enter the homes of ordinary people.

After several years of study and practice, although he did not achieve his ideal design effect, Yu Ruqiang strengthened his confidence. Once, he was inspired by observing a steam boiler, and then designed a conversion device on the original oven stove to convert the collected and stored heat into high-temperature and high-pressure steam, which was used to boil water for cooking. Immediately afterwards, he reorganized it to form an energy-saving coal-fired stove that was small in size, fully functional, and suitable for home operation.

At the end of 1997, several experts from Beijing and Shijiazhuang went to Qingxian County to evaluate Yu Ruqiang’s achievements. He lit the stove for the experts on the spot, boiled 4 kilograms of cold water in less than 3 minutes, and steamed a pot of steamed buns in 20 minutes. At the same time, he also performed multi-functional performances such as steaming, boiling, roasting, and stir-frying. The appraisal results show that the energy-saving stove can satisfy a family of six people by using only 2 kilograms of coal per day. With an additional 6 kilograms of coal, it can also run two sets of radiators and a shower. Today, the energy-saving coal-fired stove he developed has applied for two national patents, of which the design patent has been authorized.

Under the repeated bites of mosquitoes, he had to seek help from cooling oil. But the cooling oil box was at odds with him at this moment, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't open it. The buzzing sound of mosquitoes after their meal lingered in his ears, and the large mosquito bites on his body were itchy. In desperation, he dropped the cooling oil on the ground. But this didn't work. The cooling oil box rolled on the ground several times, still clenching his teeth.

In his anxiety, inspiration suddenly emerged from Zhang Yi’s mind: “Is it possible to improve the cooling oil box to make it easier to open?” So, based on this idea, He improved the cooling oil box structurally, making the base of the cooling oil box concave and turning it into a crescent shape, while the shape of the lid remained unchanged, but the inner wall was separated from the base, which increased the friction area and made it easier to Open and have a good seal.

After a lot of hard work, the "new cooling oil box model" was finally made. Zhang Yi won the second prize at the state level for this invention. Although it was not a grand prize, you should know that this was his first invention.

Having the experience of invention for the first time, Zhang Yi’s creative thinking was opened up. In the first semester of the third year of junior high school, he invented "dual-purpose slippers", won the provincial third prize, and was admitted as a member of the Dehong Prefecture Invention Association. In the same year, he wrote a paper on "Youth Creativity Development and Mass Creative Activities", which was printed and distributed throughout the state by the State Invention Association. It was during this period that he came up with the idea of ??improving the English dictionary.

After a long period of analysis of English words and computer programming, Zhang Yi accidentally had this inspiration: "Can the characteristics of vowels in words be used to indicate the position of words in the dictionary?" . So he initially wrote "New English Dictionary Usage" based on inspiration.

Zhang Yi’s invention breaks the past habit of using 26 English letters in order to find and organize English dictionaries, and uses the characteristics of vowels in words to indicate the position of words in the dictionary.
