Does Buddhism hinder the progress of social science?

Science and Superstition (I) —— My Argument

(eg talking to tourists outside a temple)

College students are also superstitious.

That's a matter of faith.

Me: It is also a philosophy of life. Being smart and wise is an enjoyable experience.

B: Yes, a friend of mine has been a lot gentler since he became a vegetarian on the fifteenth day of the first day of junior high school.

When I was driving, I listened to the great compassion mantra and felt much calmer.

Me: I am also relieved because I am a vegetarian, so I have confidence in Buddhism. From the five elements, animals generally face down and plants grow up, so meat is negative and vegetarianism is positive. Moreover, carnivores in nature are fierce and cruel, and herbivores are gentle and lovely. Eating vegetarian food not only refreshes people, but also prolongs life and improves intelligence.

A: What's the point of living without lust, fame and fortune?

Me: Yes, people nowadays generally pursue money status to satisfy their success. If you are not worried about not getting money, fame, etc. Then you haven't lost anything, because your mind is always full, always full and always happy. Maybe I didn't get all that in my life, as long as my mind is clean and happy. When I leave this world, if you say that I have lost a lot in my life, it is only your world, but there are many in my world. I didn't lose anything after I left, because I came here with my bare hands and will never take anything with me. I don't want to live in the afterlife, but at least I have been very happy in this life, because I just regard myself as one. Besides, we are a passer-by, and we come and go for nothing. "Suffering from loss" is nothing more than "much ado about nothing".

We all yearn for a bright future, so we don't shy away from hardships and catch up with the train of life one stop at a time regardless of the trouble. However, what saddens us most is that the process of realizing the ideal is also the process of disillusionment. The joy of success is so short that our desires never seem to be satisfied. The old wounds are just right, and the new ones come again. Sad! If you don't get it, you will be disappointed, and if you get it, you will be desperate. There is always an unspeakable sadness and emptiness in our hearts.

In fact, in our life, greed is hell, but we turned it upside down and didn't realize it. Some people say: the world of mortals is broken, but it is floating and sinking, and the beauty is broken, but it is exorcism; Life is broken, but impermanent; Love is broken, but it comes and goes. You can think dialectically. Look at a person's life, just like bees making honey, busy all their lives, and finally have nothing to do with themselves; It is also like a cocoon, causing troubles and finally lingering; Like a moth to a fire, everything will go to destruction. What you have done is even more thankless, and the wise should think deeply ... think about it: what's the use of profit? Life does not bring, death does not take away. If you are rich, you must also worry about your extra income; What's the use of fame Two generations know you, but three generations and four generations don't necessarily know you. Even if the whole world knows about you, you won't know when you leave. Maybe you will get it when you are born, just like wearing a tall hat and putting a label on your face. How uncomfortable it is. Everything is just superficial scenery, and most of it is pain behind it. Think about what we boast about and what we are annoyed about. All laws are nothing. After all, they are empty and unattainable. No matter how great the achievement is, it is just a historical sacrifice. Many people have wasted their lives in this kind of anxiety and worry.

Whether life is easy or rough, brilliant or dull, rich or poor, old or young, it seems that we are all seeking a great dream. We wander and struggle in the dream woven by our own feelings. What's more sad is that we haven't realized life and death. Therefore, it is not as natural as it is, and there is nothing to expect. Clench your fist, nothing, open your hand and hold a big hand, everything, everything.

A: But believing in Buddhism is not a science. Can it be proved by scientific theory?

Me: Science and superstition are opposites, and science is also unscientific. Are the experts right? Truth is an eternal dialogue with nature, and it has a state. For the vast universe, any brilliant scientific theory is just a glimpse of the leopard in the tube. All axiomatic theorems are relative, because the theories used to prove also need to be proved, and many of them are limited by time and space. Just like 1+ 1=2, you have to prove that it is endless. All theories are tools that people "discover" to help us live and understand the world. So of course, there is an accepted theory, which is "axiom".

Just like axioms, the principles of Buddhism are the same as before. If most people believed in Buddhism in the orthodox era, then Buddhism became the "axiom" at that time. If you were in that environment, I believe you would also insist that Buddhism is the truth, but now it is the opposite in the last era. As Roger Strauss wrote in his book Hypnosis and Self Hypnosis, "We are all wandering around in hypnosis and sleepwalking all our lives. After birth, we are hinted at how to think, how to express ourselves in a certain way, and what kind of person we should be. " We are bound by our own feelings, self-righteous, deceived by feelings, and can't see the true colors of life in the universe. Therefore, in the vast unknown world, we are just a child. Facing the vast and profound universe, we must be humble and pious. We should understand that the power of nature is a manifestation of divinity.

If you insist on a theoretical proof, it should also be a professional theory of Buddhism, not your so-called scientific theory. Moreover, in a sense, any theory is a hypothesis, and any scientific theory, including religious theory, has its ups and downs since its birth. This is a great law of Buddhism. Buddhism, like modern scientific theory, says that it is to solve problems, so "there is no fixed law for law" and "all laws are Buddhas, and all laws are not Buddhas". I think this is also the reason why Buddha Sakyamuni said that he didn't mention Buddhism for 49 years, just as Supreme Master Dajue explained that "all voices are Buddha's words and all things are Buddha's words. When your mind turns,

Buddhism is the truth of life in the universe and a tool for people to break the mystery and realize themselves. Because of the theory of the world, there is Buddhism. In order to get rid of our paranoia about the existing "upside down" world view, fight poison with poison. Don't be paranoid about secular law or secular law, otherwise you will be confused and trapped, and you will not be able to see the problem satisfactorily. Everything is for my use and I am not bound by it, so I feel at home. When Buddhists say "not stupid", they don't cling to anything, including Buddhism itself.

Buddhism and science are not antagonistic, but compatible. In a sense, Buddhism itself is science, and Buddhist scriptures are "encyclopedias". You Zhibiao, a modern scientist in China, said: "Buddhism is not only not superstitious, but also the most thorough theory to get rid of superstition. The deeper the scientific attainments, the more you can explain the true meaning of Buddhist scriptures. " Dr Jiazhen Shen also said, "I am a scientist myself, but I am equally interested in Buddhism. I think Buddhism and science are one and two, and two and one. " Therefore, if you don't understand Buddhism and say that Buddhism is superstition, then you are also superstitious; Of course, if you don't understand Buddhism and blindly believe in it, it's also superstition.

The development of science has always been a double-edged sword, especially in modern society. Although its development has a certain purpose, it is relatively blind. The more advanced science is, the greater the damage to the earth and its surrounding environment will be, and the faster the destruction of the whole human race will be. The invention of explosives can only accelerate the destruction of the environment, while the production of atomic bombs makes the risk factor of world destruction much higher. What is even more frightening is that the development of science has expanded human desires, and human demand for nature can be said to be more and more insatiable. The concept of "man can conquer nature" makes people immerse themselves in their own affairs and become arrogant. More and more socialized human beings are gradually divorced from nature, and the smell of reinforced concrete gradually replaces the smell of soil. I don't know if this is happy or sad. People's minds tend to be more materialistic and gradually lose the vitality of human nature, so they will fall into deeper survival confusion. I wonder if this blind and fanatical pursuit of science is superstition.

"Buddhism is in the world and never leaves the world" is not illusory, but can be proved by personal experience. As Master Kong Jing said, "Learning Buddhism is really useful". Buddha can say, Buddha can't say. It is a wonderful experience of life and the most wonderful enjoyment of life. "You know yourself when you drink water." Buddhism is justified by faith and achieved by faith. The change of heart is the greatest Buddhist relic. "The importance of the road, who knows what he means, is wrong." If you want to prove it, do it yourself. Since the enlightenment's since the enlightenment, fans are fascinated by themselves, you must bear it yourself, others are irreplaceable.
