I haven't touched this piece. It's the first time to decorate it. I don't even know what the whole painting process is like, I can only look at other people's experience. I'm crazy about painting, and I watch the content related to painting. Here, I would like to thank @ Florala for giving us a detailed strategy of color separation wall, which makes us both confident to paint the wall ourselves. Many people also shared the design of the wall, the choice of paint and color number, which gave me a general understanding of the wall of my home. In addition, my boyfriend went to the mile to find some painting videos to find the feeling. When I went to the Jordan Tmall store, I saw that they also had some professional painting suggestions and reminders, which was very useful.
So if you want to paint by yourself, you might as well go to the flagship store and ask the customer service about some paintings before you start. They will be more targeted and know the characteristics of their coatings. For example, it is not recommended to add water to Jordan paint at home, especially in dark colors. I have never added a drop of water.
In addition, my home is finely decorated with white walls and latex paint. I also consulted many friends and workers about the necessity of shoveling the wall, and each has his own views. Finally, I decided not to shovel the wall, but to paint directly on the original basis. However, if it is an old house wall decoration and the original wall is in poor condition, it is recommended to clean up the original base surface of the wall. After all, the base surface is not well done, and it is useless to choose the best coating to resist cracking.
2 design
In fact, mine is not a design, so I consulted many households to see if there is anything suitable for my family and I like it. But this is a crucial step, especially in my home, where there are many colors. We must first design and measure which walls should be painted and which colors should not be painted. Only in this way can we determine the amount of paint, how many primers and topcoats to buy and how many tools to buy. An inexperienced person like me ... I'll decide the living room first, finish painting, then decide a bedroom, and then paint ... This will waste the freight for painting ... The advantage is that I can change my mind at any time according to the effect and stop the loss in time. But I suggest you buy one color at a time, don't brush it halfway, it will be too late to find it. Where you buy paint, you can ask about the paint area for your reference. )
Because some walls have to design the size of pu line, they have made detailed measurements and drawn their own design drawings. Some I just draw pictures in cool music to see the effect. Note that the renderings you see are different from what you actually see on the spot (mainly due to the angle of view). I set the height of the waistline at 800 in the schematic diagram before, and I feel that the picture is very harmonious. When I arrived at the scene, I found that 800 was too short, so I changed it to 1000 on the spot, so for non-professionals like us, we should either refer to other people's designs or imagine them on the spot, huh? (this picture is made by AI ... fool usage, in fact, drawing or ipad can also be done. )
In view of the color difference of the electronic color card on the screen, it is best to rent the color card to choose the color number. But the color of the color card I rented from Jordan Tmall is really too little! I can't find the color I want. Can only refer to other people's real shots and electronic color cards. Then I bought 0.5L small cans of two colors to try the color ... As a result, I didn't like one color and wasted it! Buying paint for color test is definitely the most reliable, but it's too expensive!

Later, I chose to choose the color in Jordan app, and I can choose a scene to change the color ... Although this application is very unstable and slow ... In addition, I would like to remind you that the color on the color card will appear darker than expected when it is on the wall in a large area, so you can choose a lighter color number when choosing a light color. But I think it's good to look at the color of the color card when choosing dark color. This is my personal feeling.
3 Preparation tools and materials tools
Mainly rollers, brushes, putty knives, materials are latex paint (primer, topcoat, purchased on demand), wall repair paste (very necessary! ), sandpaper, paper protective film (mainly to protect the ground), textured paper (be sure to choose low viscosity as far as possible! We returned all the cheap ones we bought for the first time), goggles (only used when grinding walls, it doesn't matter if we don't prepare them), masks, work clothes for construction (be sure to prepare one, otherwise paint will drip on clothes ... and some will be washed ...) and gloves (although they are not often worn because of trouble, it is easy for hands to become rough and peeling after a long time).
The tools are mainly chosen by boyfriends. Generally, everyone recommends Christine's roller, but my boyfriend bought Christine's mercerizing master and compared it with another brand ROLLINGDOG he found. The texture of the brush is different, but it is still easy to use and looks better ... so he chose that brand, and later many tools were bought at his home. At that time, drums were known to be divided into long hair, medium hair and short hair.
"Long hair has a lot of dipping materials at a time, which can be coated in a large area, but the cloth is uneven and the paint film pattern is large, especially some colored topcoats, which are particularly prone to smudging; Short hair is just the opposite, so it is recommended to use high-quality short hair (wool) rollers for home improvement latex paint rollers. "
Special reminder, in addition to the big roller, the small roller is also very practical and important! We only bought a small roller handle. When painting together, I always feel that the small roller is not enough, and I have to wait for the other party to run out. For some corners, sockets and lines, use a small roller! However, the minimum size of the ROLLINGDOG is only 4 inches. For the smaller size, it is recommended to buy Christine (just know the small roller when the lines and edges are only a few centimeters). If you use a brush, it will inevitably leave a relatively stiff brush mark.

Note that Christine's wool brush is used as a broom to sweep the dust from walls and corners. ROLLINGDOG2.5-inch bevel brush is usually used to brush corners. We finally bought Christine's, but the big brands still failed to meet our expectations ... when we tore down many walls, our hearts were bleeding! (Maybe the developer's wall consumption is really poor ...)
If it is a large area of painting, I suggest that the floor protection can be laid in the room first. We didn't expect to use paper protective film and waste newspaper at first, which is easy to trample and always makes the ground messy, which is quite troublesome.

2. Construction steps
1 grounding protection
Stick paper protective film or ground protective film.
2. Check and fill the wall
Even if it is a newly delivered new house, it is inevitable that there will be bumps in some places. First, check the wall. It is very simple to patch up the uneven parts of the wall with patching paste. Don't worry about the unevenness at first. After completely drying, smooth it with sandpaper.
Touch the wall with your hand, and smooth the obvious protruding parts with sandpaper. Then remember to sweep the wall with a brush to sweep away the floating ash on the surface.
Make sure that the wall is generally flat and can be primed.
3 brush primer
Sockets, switches and other places should be protected with masking paper first, and the junction with the door should be pasted with masking paper first to prevent pollution when priming, which is more troublesome to clean up.

Whether it is primer or topcoat, the construction environment should meet the temperature 10 degree or above, and the air relative humidity should be less than 70%. So it's best not to draw in rainy days. We painted it in winter ... but during that time, we basically kept the floor heating on, and the temperature was maintained at about 20 degrees, which did not affect the drying of the paint film. Once on a rainy day, the floor heating was turned off, and we turned on the air conditioning brush ... but we haven't found any problems for the time being ... I guess as long as we give the paint film enough time to dry, it shouldn't be a big problem)
We tried two ways of painting. One is to draw most areas with a big roller, then draw corners with a brush, and then use a small roller to make the corners and the middle of the painting have the same thickness and similar lines. Another is to brush the corners with a brush first (in order to brush all the corners, usually more paint will be stuck first), then use a small roller for transition (the small roller should not stick too much paint, or there is no paint, just extend the thicker paint brushed by the brush), and finally use a large roller to start large-area brushing, which is also connected with the part of the small roller brush. Obviously, the second method will be better, more convenient and more balanced (that is, the method in the painting precautions given by Jordan customer service! Unfortunately, you can't po video in the article)
"Precautions for painting: first, brush the internal corners of the wall with wool, which is slightly thicker, and then connect it to the wall with a roller and roll it from top to bottom, so that the paint will dry faster. After rolling 2-3 rollers, the brushed area shall be sorted in time. When painting the front, don't stick paint, don't use force, and gently smooth it with a roller from bottom to top (the roller should follow the texture of wool), which will be smoother and harder to brush. "
Because the color of the primer is the same as that of the original wall, it is easy to miss coating. Pay attention to choose a direction and apply it in order. Primer coating area is generally large, and it can also be divided into upper and lower areas. Paint half the wall first, comb it two or three times, paint it evenly, then paint the lower wall, and then transition the upper and lower walls. Primer is just careful not to have paint hanging down. If there are any hanging marks, remember to smooth them with a roller in time. I don't think it's too stressful to get started. Just practice your hands and find your feelings.
That's right. Don't try to make the paint dry faster. Open the window for ventilation! You'd better close the doors and windows after painting.
4 brush top coat
After the primer is brushed, we usually wait until the next day to brush the topcoat (because we usually wait until after work at night, or on weekends, we usually only do one process at a time, which has enough drying time). The official recommendation is to give the primer a drying time of 4-6 hours. The temperature is relatively low or the humidity is relatively high. I suggest waiting a little longer.
Remember to check the wall again before painting the top coat for the first time to see if it is flat and protruding. Now I have a chance to polish it again.
The method of topcoat is similar to that of primer. But if you want to draw the same color separation as us, you should first use laser levels (it is an artifact for the wall with more color separation in my home! ) Draw a straight line, stick masking paper, and draw a part of the wall first.
By the way, the ceiling position that was not pasted before should also be pasted with masking paper.

Pay attention to the corner position when drawing. It's really easy to accidentally draw masking paper, which pollutes the walls in other areas ... especially the ceiling, and the subsequent treatment is very troublesome. In the process of painting, the big roller should roll slowly, otherwise it will splash a lot of paint. If you accidentally let too much paint drip on the wall, wipe it off with a paper towel in time, so that the subsequent paint color masking effect is not great. If you tie it, you must smooth it before brushing it, which will be a lot of trouble.
Painting is actually quite simple. After painting the primer, you should be able to find the feeling of painting. Don't panic when painting the top coat, and then tell me, "For the first time, uneven color is normal." Don't be too flustered when the color is spent, especially the dark color. Trust me! Just brush it for the second time!
But still have to check whether there is paint hanging down! Correct it in time!
When brushing the top of the socket and the top of the skirting line with a brush, be careful not to have too much paint, which will lead to accumulation on them, which may collapse when tearing off the textured paper. ...
Wait patiently for the first time to dry before brushing the second time ~ Similarly, it is generally recommended to wait for 4-6 hours. We usually start the second time the next day. Later, we became more skilled, and we also had the experience of waiting for two or three hours to draw a second time. ...
Brush the top coat for the second time. On the basis of uniform painting on the whole wall, focus on the shallow parts of the first surface, that is, the places where there may be white spots, and cover them all. After the second brush, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that the wall you thought was spent has become flat and tidy again.
You will feel a sense of accomplishment here, and the painting steps are basically completed. Here are some key precautions!

When will the textured paper of 1 be torn?
I have eaten this pit, so I must tell you first: when the latex paint is not completely dry, you'd better tear up the masking paper!
At first, we put all the masking paper together after painting, thinking that it would be better when the paint was dry. It has been left for many days. When we tear it, it is easy to tear the paint film carelessly, bring some paint, or tear the textured paper because the paint is too thick. Most importantly! It will expose the white wall below, which is very ugly, and a textured wall will be destroyed by details.
Later, I asked the oil man in the house to repair it. He told me that if the latex paint is not dry, it is necessary to tear the masking paper. He also disdainfully said that many places don't use textured paper, but use brushes to draw. This is the technology ... (although we still think that the edges of textured paper will be neater and easier than brushes)
How about painting the top coat twice? When will it be torn? Our decision is ... to stick masking paper twice on the edge (such as the skirting line) that is prone to this kind of problem.
But don't worry, even if the textured paper is torn, there are ways to repair it. Then stick the masking paper on the long side and use a brush (very easy to use! You can use it in corners and edges. Dip it in paint and outline it at the edge. It's just ... these details are hard to make up.

This is a very painful problem ... it is easy to happen, even after I use Christine's color separation tape ... I can choose a better low-viscosity textured paper.

First of all, you can stick masking paper on your clothes before using it to reduce the stickiness (but I often give it up very troublesome); Secondly, you'd better tear the masking paper slowly and be patient. I pulled it smartly and learned a painful lesson. Don't be afraid if it is finally torn, there are ways to repair it.
We usually stick masking paper on the color separation edge of the undamaged edge, and then fill the damaged part with repair paste. After the repair paste is dried, gently polish it with sandpaper, and then repaint the damaged area and its surroundings with a small roller or brush. After uniform coating, let stand? Just tear off the masking tape carefully.
Although the wall color separation is pasted with masking paper, it is still uneven.

If color separation is needed, after masking paper (color separation tape) is pasted, the gap between masking paper and wall surface can be plastered with repair paste (putty). It doesn't need too much, just touch your finger a little, and then wipe it along the edge of the masking paper. Wipe it for a few minutes and it will dry, then sand it with sandpaper. If you don't do this step, there is still a small gap between the wall and the masking paper, and the paint can easily penetrate into it, resulting in uneven color separation edges. If too much gypsum is used in this step, a thick layer will be formed on the edge and wall of the masking paper. After the masking paper is painted and torn off, it is easy to form a height difference with the wall below the masking paper.
4 Thin is better than thick
Drawing these days, the biggest experience is these words. When painting, the best thing must be uniform thickness everywhere. But it may be a little difficult for beginners. Once the paint thickens or drips to form a thick paint band on the wall, it will not be treated at first. After a few minutes, the paint is a little dry, and then it can't be brushed. After the subsequent complete drying, you can only choose to accept this effect or polish it before applying a second paint. If you polish and paint for the second time, there will be no normal texture on it, just a flat surface, which will be more abrupt than the texture paint next to it.
But if the coating is thin and there is no coating in some places, then the subsequent treatment is very simple. You can touch up the paint before it is wet, or just leave it alone and paint it again. Really can't. I can paint it a third time.
So to sum up, there is no fault tolerance rate if it is painted too thick.
