After Nokia demanded patent fees from Oppo, Huawei once again "unsheathed its sword" for domestic mobile phone manufacturers

Previously, I wrote an article that after Nokia collected huge patent fees from Oppo, as the domestic big brother, Huawei will definitely stand up for the "little brothers" in order to show the world that China's technology industry is no longer Lambs to be slaughtered by you in the Western world, you can no longer do whatever you want to China unscrupulously!

This is not the news on July 13. According to foreign media reports, two patent lawsuits between Verizon in the United States and Huawei in China reached a settlement. A Huawei spokesperson confirmed that the two-year settlement ended the two-year patent litigation between the two companies, and Huawei dropped its lawsuit against Version, the largest communications operator in the United States. At the same time, Verizon (the largest telecommunications operator) in the United States withdrew its counterclaim against Huawei.

Verizon Telecommunications Company of the United States

It was formed by the merger of two original regional Bell operating companies in the United States, Bell Atlantic and Nynex, to establish BellAtlantic, and the independent telephone company GTE. , after the company officially merged, Verizon became the largest local telephone company, the largest wireless communications company in the United States, and the world's largest provider of printed and online Yellow Pages information. The company's market value has exceeded that of Google. According to Forbes' list of the top 100 companies, Verizon ranks 17th.

The starting point of the incident

This lawsuit began in June 2019. At that time, the United States ignored the laws of the market and arbitrarily suppressed Huawei, causing Huawei to completely leave the U.S. market.

Reasons for the incident

Since Huawei has already laid out its presence in the U.S. market, and more importantly, its leadership in 5G technology, Verizon has been away from the U.S. market for a long time. The company was unable to find an alternative, resulting in it still using Huawei's nearly 240 patents including: core network, wired infrastructure, and Internet of Things technology.

In June 2019, Huawei requested more than US$1 billion in patent fees from Verizon. The following year, negotiations broke down and Huawei filed a lawsuit, while Verizon filed a countersuit against Huawei, accusing it of infringing on its patents.

It is obvious that the 3GPP meeting held in Sweden in August 2016 was a proposal meeting for 5G coding technology solutions. The main companies participating included Qualcomm, Samsung, ZTE, Xiaomi, Huawei, HiSilicon, China China Unicom, Spreadtrum, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, etc., among which Vodafone is a subsidiary acquired by Verizon in 2013. In the end, Huawei's patented technology accounted for 15.3% and came out on top, while Davofeng's patents were negligible. As a telecommunications operator, Verizon's counterclaim against Huawei is just a means to take advantage of the US's suppression of Huawei to delay time or refuse to pay.

Obviously Verizon uses Huawei's patents far more than Huawei uses Vodafone's patents. This is an indisputable fact. Who loses and wins in this kind of litigation in a country that is somewhat fair, there is no need to elaborate here. Said.

However, in the United States, there has been no substantial progress in the accusations made by both parties for as long as two years.

In desperation, Huawei once again proposed to solve the "patent licensing problem" in February 2021. The patents proposed by Huawei this time cover many patents such as computer networks, download security, and video communications. These patents The licensing apparently involves network equipment provided by more than 20 of Verizon's suppliers.

Coincident timing

A few days after Nokia requested patent fees from Oppo, on July 7, Huawei’s case against Verizon for patent infringement officially opened. This time, Verizon Sen did not file too many counterclaims. Instead, he actively mediated with Huawei. Considering its territory in the United States, Huawei took a step back. Huawei only asked Verizon to respect Huawei's investment in research and development. Sure enough, Verizon said on Monday that "Verizon is pleased to reach a patent litigation settlement with Huawei," but the terms of the agreement are confidential.

In fact, in a large number of patent litigation cases, the two parties end up finding a balance point during the litigation process. It is nothing more than negotiating an amount acceptable to both the party who pays the compensation and the party who receives the compensation. However, this time it is urgent. "A few days after Nokia asked Oppo for patent fees", it really doesn't make the Chinese people think about it.

Huawei speaks with strength

Huawei has used its excellent technology and unparalleled R&D capabilities to once again show the world who is the Beidou of 5G. At this point, Huawei has succeeded Apple, After Samsung and Volkswagen raised royalties, another general has been added: Verizon, the largest telecom operator in the United States.

Huawei----As the greatest enterprise of the Chinese nation, Huawei is not afraid of power or brutal suppression. Under the siege of the entire Western world, it has once again fought its way out, which is quite similar to Zhao Zilong's battle with Nagasaka. Po Zhiyong.

After Nokia requested patent fees from Oppo, Huawei officially stated its attitude to the Western world. The Chinese nation in the East has risen and is no longer the weak China before.

Come on, China

Then again, there are still some mobile phone manufacturers in the country who are ignorant and obsessed with colluding with Qualcomm to harvest the Chinese people's leeks. What I want to say is: face is earned by oneself, not by kneeling down to lick others or receiving charity from others. Don't be proud of "I can buy the most advanced processor from Qualcomm, but you can't buy it from Huawei", but be ashamed of it! If you work hard on research and development and develop the core technology yourself, then you will no longer have to beg others in a low voice, and you will no longer have to assemble mobile phones to earn hard-earned money. That was the moment when China truly stood at the top of the world.

Come on, Chinese companies!
