Tesla has made another big move, developing a new lithium battery module with battery life twice as long as now

In our daily life, the charging power of our mobile phone batteries usually decreases after a certain period of use. The same goes for electric vehicles, because at this stage, the batteries of electric vehicles are the same as mobile phone batteries. Mainly lithium batteries.

When the battery drops to a certain level, the battery will need to be replaced. However, if it is an electric vehicle, it is not a simple matter to replace the battery module, and the cost is not low.

For this reason, Tesla recently disclosed a technology under development, which is an ultra-long-life lithium battery module. This research and development plan began in April 2019, and was jointly developed by Tesla and Canada. Dalhousie University collaborated on research and development and applied for a patent at the same time.

This new lithium battery module is claimed to have a service life of 1.6 million kilometers. The highest-level battery module currently provided by Tesla is 100kWh, with a service life of approximately 1,000 to 2,000 recharges. In the meantime, the newly developed lithium battery module still retains 95% of the original battery life after 1,000 charges, and 90% of the battery life after 4,000 charges. Such a long battery life is a qualitative improvement for electric vehicles, because the most important indicators of electric vehicles are battery life and endurance.

For the future development trend of electric vehicles, solid-state batteries are a relatively recognized medium for recharging electricity, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk does not think so. He believes that the development of lithium-ion batteries We haven't reached our limit yet, there are still many possibilities.
