Requirements for patent specification drawings and abstract drawings

4.3 Drawings in the instruction manual

The drawings in the instruction manual should be drawn using drawing tools including computers and black ink

The lines should be even and clear. Dark enough, no coloring, no alteration, no

use of engineering blueprints.

Hatch lines in cross-sectional drawings shall not hinder the clear identification of reference mark lines and main lines.

Several drawings can be drawn on one drawing. An overall drawing can be drawn on

several drawings, but it should be ensured that the drawings on each drawing are independent, and when all the drawings are combined to form one Complete the overall picture without affecting its clarity

. There should be no frames around the drawings that are irrelevant to the drawings. If the total number of drawings is more than two, they should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals and preceded by the word "Picture", such as Figure 1 and Figure 2. This number should be marked directly below the corresponding drawing.

The drawings should be drawn vertically on the drawing paper as much as possible and clearly separated from each other. When the horizontal dimensions of the parts are significantly larger than the vertical dimensions and must be arranged horizontally, the top of the drawing should be placed on the left side of the drawing. If there are more than two drawings on a page of drawings and one of them has been arranged horizontally, the other drawings on the page should also be arranged horizontally.

Reference numbers should be numbered using Arabic numerals. Reference signs that are not

mentioned in the text of the description shall not appear in the drawings, and reference signs that are not

appeared in the drawings shall not be mentioned in the text of the description. The reference signs indicating the same component

in the application documents shall be consistent.

The size and clarity of the attached figure should ensure that when the figure is reduced to two-thirds

all details in the figure can still be clearly distinguished, so as to meet the needs of copying, Scanning requirements

will prevail.

The same drawing should be drawn at the same scale. In order to clearly display a certain component

of the same drawing, an additional partial enlarged drawing may be added. The drawings shall not contain any other annotations except the necessary

words. The words in the attached drawings should be in Chinese. When necessary, the original text can be indicated in brackets.

Flow charts and block diagrams should be included as attachments, and necessary

text and symbols should be given within their frames. Generally, photos are not allowed to be used as attachments, but in special circumstances, for example, when showing metallographic structures, tissue cells or electrophoresis patterns, photos can be used and attached to drawings. Picture attached.

The pages of the manual and accompanying drawings should be numbered in Arabic numeral order.

4.5.2 Abstract Drawings

If the description has drawings, the applicant shall submit a drawing that best illustrates the main technical solutions of the invention

Drawings of technical characteristics are included as abstract drawings. The drawing attached to the abstract should be one of the drawings included in the description

. If the applicant fails to submit an abstract drawing, the examiner may notify the applicant to make corrections, or designate one ex officio and notify the applicant. If the examiner

confirms that there are no suitable abstracts and drawings that can be designated, the applicant does not need to be required to make

corrections.

The abstract and drawings submitted by the applicant obviously cannot explain the main technology of the invention's technical solution

If the technical characteristics of the submitted abstract are not one of the figures attached to the description, the examiner may notify the applicant to make corrections, or designate the applicant ex officio One piece, and notify the applicant

of the application.

The size and clarity of the abstract drawing should ensure that when the picture is reduced to 4 cm × 6

cm, each detail in the picture can still be clearly distinguished.

The abstract may contain the chemical formula that best describes the invention, and the chemical formula may be regarded as

the drawing attached to the abstract.
