Who first invented the ellipse gauge?
Ellipsometer is an ancient simple tool for drawing ellipses. The common elliptical gauge consists of a bottom plate with a cross-shaped chute and a rotating rod. A movable sliding indicator is installed on each cross chute. There is a rotating rod under the slider. This rotating rod is integrated with vertical and horizontal sliding marks. Move the slider, and the rotating rod below can rotate 360 degrees to generate an ellipse that conforms to the elliptic equation. Many people have successfully made their own and applied for patents, and the principle is similar. As for who was the first inventor, there is no way to prove it. Maybe we can only find out who is the first person to apply for a patent.
