Lu Ban was a great inventor in ancient my country. During his life, he invented and created countless things, among which the more famous ones include saws, rulers, ink fountains, ladders and other items, with many achievements. Moreover, it is said that the umbrella we use every day was also invented by Lu Ban. It should be an amazing creation, but many people are questioning the authenticity of this statement. He believed that Lu Ban could not have made an umbrella because there were no tools for making umbrellas at that time. So did Lu Ban invent the umbrella?
There is a story that has been circulating about Lu Ban’s invention of the umbrella. A long time ago, people were suffering from the sun and rain outside, and Lu Ban thought about how to make them feel more comfortable outside. At first, Lu Ban built a pavilion ten miles outside. When the weather is hot or it rains or snows, you can take shelter under the pavilion. Although it brings certain convenience, Lu Ban is not very satisfied yet. How to build a pavilion that can be used at all times? Objects to hide from the sun, rain and snow have become Luban's obsession.
While Lu Ban was thinking hard, it suddenly rained. Lu Ban got inspiration when he looked at the children holding lotus leaves under the rain. I imitated the shape of a lotus leaf and made a rough outline of an umbrella, and then made the first umbrella after thinking and processing.
Of course, this is just a story passed down from generation to generation, and its authenticity cannot be tested. But if we look through ancient history, we can find that Luban did not invent the umbrella. It is reported that the earliest time umbrellas appeared was in 1100 BC, when China was in the Shang Dynasty. Umbrellas at that time existed as a status symbol. Lu Ban lived in the Spring and Autumn Period, and there was a gap of hundreds of years. It was impossible for Lu Ban to travel back in time and invent an umbrella.
So, it is possible to say that Luban further improved the umbrella, but it is impossible to invent it.
