What are the nine indispensable basic design skills in graphic design?
cut to the chase, so where can we improve the details of the design? A "Wulin Secret Book" is called "Nine Styles". Although it is some basic skills of design, it is easy to be ignored. Master these, in the usual design, practice more and think more, and your design will be more detailed ~ the first type: plastic "shape" all arts have formal beauty; The basic factors of beauty are form, color and quality. So is the design. First of all, I want to talk about "shape" in design. At the same time, I personally think that "shape" is the most important factor in graphic design, and the design of "shape" plays a vital role in a work. The "shape" mentioned here can be understood as the outline, line drawing, modeling and so on. The control of "shape" needs to be considered and scrutinized repeatedly in the design process. For example, the requirement of "recognition" in icon design and the "ruler geometry drawing method" commonly used in design are all strict controls on the details of "shape". In illustration design, the modeling and rhythm of figures or material forms are also very important. "Shape" should be accurate and have "personality". For example, if we want to draw a rectangle with rounded corners, we will generally pour a rounded corner directly on the basis of the rectangle. It's common, right? Can you polish more details for this fillet? We can deal with this rectangle again or draw it in another way, so that it has some swelling or fullness and becomes so "unusual". Isn't this rounded rectangle more attractive? (Don't underestimate this rounded rectangle. The rounded rectangle of the Apple icon is also patented.) This is a group of entries in the OPPO mobile phone theme contest many years ago. After so many years, I still like it very much. The second type: controlling "color" has "shape", and we will talk about "color" in the future. There are often "Party A's dad" saying "This color is a bit ugly! Change the color. " In fact, I don't think any color is ugly. Excluding some personal feelings and preferences, this "ugly" situation is mostly due to problems between color matching and color relationship. Although there are many color matching tools on the Internet, the best tool is the designer's "feeling", which can also be said to be a kind of ability for designers to accumulate and train for a long time. There are ways to match colors, but they are not completely fixed. For example, we often say that "red with green" can also be very advanced. Let's try to add a color to the rounded rectangle just now, which can be solid color or gradient color. However, it should be noted that when doing gradient, we need to pay attention to the changes of lightness, saturation and cold and warm, so as to make the color transition natural. This is a group of graphic works that express the structure of small animals through color gradient. It is basically achieved by controlling several common elements of color: hue, saturation and lightness. The third type: adding "quality" design can create virtual abstraction and restore reality. Besides "shape" and "color", the expression of "quality" in design is also very important. For example, the popularity of the earliest simulacra-style icons has reached the present extremely simplified style. What I want to say here is that from complexity to simplicity is not "removing quality", and "no quality" is also a form of "quality". I like the icon of the previous hammer mobile phone very much. It is as realistic as possible, with rich details, and I can stare at it for a long time. The popularity of flattening also makes the threshold of UI designers lower and lower, and the requirements for painting are not so high. Generally, there are two ways to add texture: adding texture (material) and adding light and shadow texture. But it is not blindly pursuing "decoration" and avoiding over-design. This is the work of two of my favorite designers, and my favorite students feel the sense of quality. The picture on the left is a noise illustration, and the picture on the right is a pseudo-3D texture (I originally wanted to put my own work, but the work of Daxie is more convincing). I just talked about some key points of improving details in three basic elements: shape, color and quality. Let's sum up: plastic "shape": shape should be accurate and have personality. "Form" comes first. It takes more time to polish "form" when designing. "Form" needs aesthetic feeling and personality. Control "color": lightness is cold and warm, and the transition is natural. Color can give people a stronger visual impact. Remember that no color is "ugly", and handle the hue, lightness, saturation and the relationship before color. Add "quality": give texture and pay attention to light and shadow. Quality is the icing on the cake. The general methods are "adding texture" and "adding light and shadow". "No quality" is also a manifestation of "quality". The fourth type: leave "blank" Next, let's talk about "blank". As the saying goes, "Nothing here is better than something" and "leaving blank" is a common technique in design. The "white" here does not mean white or empty; Blanking can make your theme more prominent, and the picture has a sense of space and transparency. Then how to leave a blank ~ ~ Let's look at the picture first, a small black ball, placed in a pile of collection graphics. Can you locate the small ball quickly? People's visual focus is scattered, even influenced by the geometric figures around him, and they can't focus all the time. What they see is a bunch of messy figures. In our usual design process, design should be restrained, and "subtraction" needs to be done well. We can highlight the visual position of the small sphere by "subtraction". 1. "Reduce interference": We can weaken the messy graphics around the small ball. 2. "Remove": Remove irrelevant geometric elements. Give full play to the role of blank space and reflect its intrinsic value, so as to highlight the theme, enhance the aesthetic feeling of the content and create a more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere for the audience. This is a screenshot of Apple official website. Everyone feels that the picture is mainly words and product drawings, without too much decoration, but "Yuba" makes you unforgettable ~ leaving blank can also extend your imagination and visual sense of space, which has certain artistry. Chinese ink painting often has the application of blank space. Having said that, don't make a mistake: blank space is omnipotent! In fact, not all need a large area of blank space, such as: activities with atmosphere, festivals, functional pages and so on. Flexible use is king. The fifth type: hierarchy We often refer to "hierarchy" in design, so how did "hierarchy" come from? In general, "hierarchy" needs to establish the order between elements or contents, such as hierarchy relationship, primary and secondary relationship, color relationship, position relationship and so on. Common methods of design: "contrast", that is, emphasizing and weakening, the relationship between elements is poor; "induction": sorting out similar elements and distinguishing different elements.
