On July 30, EV Vision learned from relevant channels that the battery-replacement heavy-duty truck jointly built by power battery supplier CATL and Foton Zhilan New Energy has been delivered in Beijing. The vehicle’s power consumption per kilometer is 1.2kWh, cruising range is 180km, and battery replacement can be completed in 3-5 minutes.
CATL said that the "road-to-rail" formed by heavy truck railways is becoming a key link in urban transportation. The battery-swapping heavy trucks built by the company and Foton Zhilan New Energy have four major advantages. First, each battery-replacement heavy truck can reduce 140t of carbon dioxide and 12.5t of pollutant emissions; second, the battery-replacement heavy truck consumes only 1.2kWh per kilometer, saving about 60 yuan/100km compared to fuel; third, the vehicle The cruising range can reach 180km, and the battery swap can be completed in 3-5 minutes; fourth, it adopts the vehicle-electricity separation mode, which reduces the initial investment and reduces the operational burden.
Currently, the battery swap station is equipped with "precise laser positioning for vehicle entry". After the driver parks the vehicle at the designated location, the robot can accurately grab the battery pack. Officials claim that the reliability of the battery swap process is as high as 100%.
