Chen Huanchun’s achievements and honors

In terms of major human and animal diseases such as animal influenza, animal tuberculosis, Japanese encephalitis, and Streptococcus suis, as well as new major animal diseases such as porcine pseudorabies and porcine ear disease, etc., We have carried out comprehensive, systematic and in-depth research, industrialized the research results and used them in actual production, resulting in economic and social benefits.

He was the first to determine the outbreak of porcine pseudorabies in my country, isolated and identified porcine pseudorabies virus, and developed various diagnostic methods; systematically elaborated on the five major clinical manifestations of porcine pseudorabies in my country; developed a vaccine, He proposed the pseudorabies eradication plan and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2001.

The whole genome sequences of porcine parvovirus and porcine circovirus and more than 50 functional genes of various pathogens were cloned and sequenced. We have constructed a universal vector for pseudorabies virus, developed 10 genetic engineering vaccines and 10 molecular diagnostic kits, and applied for safety evaluations of 10 genetically modified organisms, 4 new veterinary drug certificates and 2 invention patents.

He has successively undertaken more than 30 international cooperation projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China, national key research projects, national biotechnology research projects, 863 projects, provincial and ministerial projects and horizontal projects. Obtained 1 national Class I new veterinary drug certificate and 1 Class II new veterinary drug certificate.

Developed a variety of new inactivated vaccines, attenuated vaccines and diagnostic kits, and obtained 3 identification results and 14 expert acceptance certification results. National standards for pseudorabies quarantine procedures and agricultural industry standards for swine parvovirus quarantine procedures were formulated, and industry standards for quarantine and inspection of swine hemorrhagic dysentery quarantine procedures were revised. It has trained 14 PhD graduates (23 are currently studying) and 36 graduates with master's degrees. Published 142 papers, 73 conference papers, 1 monograph, co-edited 2 books, and compiled 6 collections of papers.

It has won 3 second prizes for National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 1 second prize for National Teaching Achievements, and 2 first prizes for Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Awards.

Received special allowance from the State Council in 1992, and was awarded the Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1998.

In 2001, as the project leader, he won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for "Research on Isolation and Identification, Molecular Biology and Comprehensive Prevention of Porcine Pseudorabies Virus E-A Strain".

In 1998, as the leader of the project "Porcine pseudorabies virus isolation and identification, laboratory diagnosis and epidemiological research", he won the third prize of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award.

Winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award, the highest science and technology award in Hubei Province in February 2014.
