His original name was Xiong Lingyun, a native of Xiongwa Village, Beitan Township, with a university education and a background in a landlord family.
In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1938), the Japanese army invaded China. Xiong Lingyun was studying in Yangzhou and Shanghai. He witnessed the atrocities of the Japanese army, the country was destroyed and the family was destroyed, and he was extremely angry.
Under the influence of underground party member and elder brother Xiong Tiyun, he supported the Communist Party and actively engaged in the anti-Japanese and national salvation struggle. He joined the Communist Party of China in the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942). Later, due to a traitor's report, his identity as a party member was exposed. Following the instructions of the organization, he returned to his hometown and joined the local anti-Japanese armed river defense brigade. In the 33rd year of the Republic of China (1944), he worked in the County Youth Salvation Association. In the 34th year of the Republic of China (1945), he was recommended by the organization to study at East China University of Construction. After graduation, he was assigned to work in public security and translation in Qingjiang City. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was transferred back to the Fudong County Public Security Department.
In the 35th year of the Republic of China (1946), Chen Xing signed up to join the army and served as the political instructor of the third company of the Fudong County Corps. He cared about the soldiers, united the cadres, and trained strictly. Soldiers are required to train with the enemy's situation in mind, and conduct meticulous training in subjects such as shooting and assassination, so as to continuously improve the combat effectiveness of the troops. In his spare time, he taught everyone how to read and write. He also provided intensive tutoring to correspondent Shen Zhongyou and scribe Zhou Fushan who were roughly literate. At the beginning of the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), Chen Xing was promoted to deputy battalion instructor. One day in March of that year, the 48th Brigade of the Kuomintang Army stationed in Funing City and the First Section of the Returning Regiment went to the north of Fucheng to "mopping up". The 3rd Company of the Fudong Corps carried out an interception at the Zhongsanzao, Qiansanzao and Zhuanqiao lines. Chen Xing led the second platoon to occupy the large tomb, and the enemy troops also occupied the west side of the tomb. The two armies were only more than 20 meters apart, and they fought fiercely when the enemy was strong and we were weak. At 7:30 in the morning, Chen Xing raised his head to inspect the enemy's situation and was hit in the head by an enemy bullet. Deputy company commander Liu Zhengqing saw this and decisively decided to organize firepower to cover and evacuate while fighting.
