3G Technology Property Rights of China Unicom and China Telecom

First of all, WCDMA and CDMA2000 are technologies, and China Unicom and Telecom are operators. They don't have to pay patent fees, but equipment manufacturers have to pay patent fees (many manufacturers have signed patent cross-licensing agreements, that is, they don't pay each other). Of course, the price of equipment bought by China Unicom and China Telecom includes patent fees.

Secondly, TD-SCDMA does not have completely independent intellectual property rights, and many patents are owned by foreign companies (3G and basic communication technologies are not from China, so we still have to pay). As for the proportion of China, the TD camp has never announced it. Say more than 50%, say only 10%.

Third, WCDMA and CDMA2000 do not mean that they are not from China. Huawei and ZTE also have some small patents.
