What is the application process of Dutch design patent?

1, data preparation

Dutch appearance patents, like other patent applications, also need to provide corresponding legal documents, including the applicant's identification materials, such as valid company registration documents, personal identity cards, passports, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to provide the effective contact information of the applicant before receiving the notice issued by the patent administration department. In addition, you need to provide pictures and photos of the design (generally six views and three-dimensional views). It should be noted that if you apply for patent priority in the Netherlands, you need a certified priority document (which needs to be translated into Dutch).

2. Application submission and review

When the required information is ready, you can submit a patent application to the Dutch patent management department and pay the relevant fees. After receiving the materials, the Dutch patent administration department will review the legal format of the materials and whether the application documents are in compliance. At the same time, it will also query the database of the European Patent Office to make sure that the applied patent is different or similar to other existing patents.

3. Registration and publicity

After passing the examination, the Dutch Patent Administration will issue a patent registration certificate to the applicant and publish the patent in the official patent publication. It needs special explanation here. If the applicant does not want the patent to be published immediately after registration, he needs to file a special application and specify the time limit for delaying the publication. Of course, the applicant can ask for immediate disclosure at any time after applying for withdrawal from disclosure.
