Brief introduction of authors of unsaturated soil mechanics

Wei Changfu, born in 1965, doctor, researcher. In 2006, he was selected into the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 2008, he received preferential support from the "Introduction of Outstanding Overseas Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now he works in Wuhan Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering.

He has been engaged in the research of multiphase porous media theory and its application for a long time, and has made many important research achievements in the continuity theory of multiphase porous media, mechanical properties of sediments containing natural gas hydrate, unsaturated soil mechanics and so on. , including: (1) Revealing the Lagrangian structure of the continuity theory of multiphase porous media, proving the equivalence between this theory and Biot porous media theory in general, and establishing the simulation model of multiphase and multicomponent porous media. (2) The thermodynamic basis for simulating capillary hysteresis is established, a practical internal variable model of capillary circulation is established, and a constitutive theory which can systematically describe the coupling effect between unsaturated-elastic-plastic deformation and capillary circulation process is proposed. (3) A theoretical model for simulating the cross-scale correlation effect of micro-,meso-and macro-pore flow, that is, the non-balanced flow theoretical model of porous media, is established, and an effective method for determining the local structure of porous media and unsaturated hydraulic parameters quickly is proposed.

He has published more than 80 papers (cited by SCI for more than 70 times), granted 8 patents and won the provincial and ministerial natural science award 1 item (ranking third). Director of Unsaturated Soil Branch of International Society of Soil Mechanics, Standing Committee Member of Geotechnical Mechanics Committee of China theoretical and applied mechanics Society, Standing Committee Member of China Blasting Engineering Society, Standing Committee Member of Hubei Mechanics Society and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Geotechnical Mechanics. Dr. Lu Ning, a professor at Colorado University of Mining and Technology, teaches courses such as "Unsaturated Soil Mechanics" and "Hydrology". His research interests are unsaturated soil mechanics, seepage-stress coupling and monitoring, analysis and prediction of shallow landslides. The principle of absorbed stress and unified effective stress put forward by him organically combines unsaturated soil mechanics with traditional saturated soil mechanics, which is a landmark achievement in the field of unsaturated soil mechanics. The laboratory soil moisture characteristic curve and permeability coefficient rapid measuring instrument he presided over greatly shortened the measuring time of moisture absorption parameters of unsaturated fine-grained soil and promoted the development of unsaturated soil mechanics. He applied unsaturated soil mechanics theory to the monitoring and prediction of shallow landslides and achieved good results. Won the American Society of Civil Engineers General Medal Award in 2007 and the J. James Croes Medal Award in 20 10 respectively. Dr. William J.Likos is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, USA, teaching courses such as "Soil Mechanics" and "Soil Science". He used to be a geotechnical engineer in the US Geological Survey. He has published many papers on unsaturated soil and expansive soil. He is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Geotechnical Engineering Testing and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Clay Minerals Society. In 2005 and 2007, he was awarded the Arthur casagrande Award and the General Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers respectively.
