What's the difference between UnionPay IC card and ordinary card?

Ordinary cards are magnetic stripe cards. A magnetic card is a kind of magnetic recording medium similar to a card, which uses a magnetic carrier to record characters and digital information for identification or other purposes. The magnetic card is made of high-strength and high-temperature resistant plastic or paper-coated plastic, which is moisture-proof, wear-resistant, flexible, convenient to carry and stable and reliable to use. For example, the bank card we use is the most common magnetic stripe card. The core of the bank card is changed because the track information of the traditional magnetic stripe card is easy to be copied, which has security risks. In contrast, the chip card has key encryption technology, and the encrypted information is generated randomly. Chip card, also known as IC card, refers to the card with chip as the transaction medium. Chip cards not only support various financial applications such as lending, electronic cash, electronic wallet, offline payment and fast payment, but also can be used in many industries such as finance, transportation, communication, commerce, education, medical care, social security, tourism, entertainment, etc., so as to truly realize multi-purpose of one card and provide more value-added services to customers.
