1998, the company introduced a complete set of limestone/lime-gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization technology with international advanced level for the first time from German FBE company (formerly Steinmler company), and successfully completed three earliest wet flue gas desulfurization demonstration projects in China in cooperation with FBE company, namely Jingyire, Zhejiang Banshan Power Plant and Chongqing Power Plant. Subsequently, the first set of 200MW units and the first set of 300MW unit desulfurization devices contracted by domestic companies were built, and the project of "Flue Gas Desulfurization Technology and Equipment Engineering for Large Coal-fired Power Plant Boilers" planned by the Ministry of Science and Technology was undertaken, forming an integrated technology of wet flue gas desulfurization in Long Yuan with completely independent intellectual property rights, which applied for 14 national patents. All technical and economic indicators have reached or exceeded the world advanced level, and have been successfully applied in many desulfurization projects. By the end of February 2006, the company's total commissioning performance has reached 14298MW.
At the end of 2003, the company introduced advanced selective catalytic reduction denitrification (SCR) technology from FBE company in Germany, and the method of removing nitrogen oxides from flue gas by this technology is the mainstream of denitrification process in the world today. Up to now, the company is undertaking Guodian Tongling Power Plant 1 × 600MW units, Guodian Beilun Phase III1×/0/000 MW units, Datang Gaojing Power Plant 4 ×50MW and 2× 1000MW units, Tianjin Northeast Suburb 2 ×300MW units and Guodian Jianbi. The total performance of denitrification projects of Guodian Zhumadian 2×300MW, Guodian Jiuquan 2×330MW, Guodian Changyuan Jingzhou 2×300MW, Huaneng Yuhuan 2× 1000MW and Guodian Hanchuan 2× 1000MW units reached 15620MW.
