While studying at the University of Science and Technology of China, Liu Qingfeng won a scholarship every year with excellent results. 1998 was awarded the highest honor "China Academy of Sciences Dean Scholarship-Special Award" by graduate students of China Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he was awarded the highest honors by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Federation of Students-"May 4th Scholarship" and Hao Jianbei. Because of his outstanding professional achievements, he was selected to participate in scientific research in the "Man-machine Voice Communication Laboratory" jointly established by China University of Science and Technology and National Intelligent Computer R&D Center 1995. 1995 has been the main person in charge of the national 863 project "KD series Chinese text-to-speech conversion system" undertaken by the laboratory, and is determined to "make computers speak like people". 1998 became the chief engineer of the National 863 Intelligent Computer Achievement Transformation Base (Fujian) after graduation, and became the president of Iflytek Company from 1999. Responsible for core research and development and product strategy, and has been active in the front line of voice technology research for many years. At present, it has accepted 5 invention patents, 2 utility model patents, 2 authorized utility model patents and 5 software copyright registrations, and published nearly 20 papers in core journals and important conferences at home and abroad. In the postgraduate stage, innovative methods such as "new speech synthesis method based on LMA model" and "prosody construction model based on number string extrapolation" have been put forward successively. The successfully developed KD series Chinese text-to-speech conversion system not only won the first place in the national 863 appraisal from 65438 to 0998, but also reached the practical stage for the first time (naturalness score of 3.0). The article "Design and Implementation of a Chinese Phonetic Platform-Tianyan Huawang System" written by the first author won the only "Best Student Paper Award" in the field of speech synthesis in the first International Conference on Chinese Phonetic Processing (199865438+February, Singapore). KD Series Chinese Text-to-Speech System also won the "First Prize of Anhui Science and Technology Progress" in 2000 and the "Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress" in 2002 (Liu Qingfeng was the second winner, and Professor Wang Renhua was the first winner). 1998 put forward the method of "quantitative speech synthesis based on auditory perception" for the first time, and made a systematic and in-depth study on this method in the doctoral thesis. This method has become the main research route to guide Iflytek and its joint laboratories, and it is also one of the most critical barriers to maintain the leading position of basic research in Iflytek. Under the guidance of this method, Liu Qingfeng took the lead in undertaking more than ten major key projects of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and other ministries, and led Iflytek to make new breakthroughs in the field of speech synthesis research. The successfully developed InterPhonic speech synthesis platform (the main research achievement of the National Tenth Five-Year Plan 863 major project "Network and Content-Oriented Speech Information Application Processing Platform") made the effect of machine-synthesized speech exceed the speaking level of ordinary people for the first time in the industry (naturalness score of 4.3), and was rated as "at the international leading level" by the Ministry of Science and Technology in February 2003. In the latest round of national 863 speech synthesis appraisal held in June 5438+ 10, 2004, InterPhoinc system won the first place in all indicators by a large score in the final appraisal including ATR, Tsinghua University and other internationally renowned speech research institutions.
Because of Liu Qingfeng's outstanding research achievements in the field of phonetic technology, he was awarded the "China Outstanding Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation in 2002, the "Eighth China Youth Science and Technology Award" by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Personnel and the Organization Department in 2004, and the "China Association for Science and Technology Seeking the Achievement Transformation Award" by the China Association for Science and Technology. Liu Qingfeng's breakthrough in Anhui's history in these national awards greatly encouraged the confidence of young scientific and technological workers in Anhui Province, and at the same time effectively enhanced the scientific and technological brand image of Hefei Science City.
Besides making outstanding achievements in the basic research of phonetic technology, Liu Qingfeng has also made important contributions to the industrialization of Chinese phonetic technology. When he graduated from graduate school, he resolutely gave up the opportunity to go abroad for further study and the high-paying employment of well-known enterprises at home and abroad, and was determined to fully industrialize the Chinese speech synthesis technology in the hands of China people. He led a group of outstanding HKUST graduates and founded Iflytek Information Technology Co., Ltd. in June 1999. And in the industrialization base of the achievements of the National 863 Plan, we always adhere to the industrial development concept of "foothold": we must ensure that the core technology is leading the world ("foothold") and the technological achievements are widely popularized and applied ("foothold"). After several years of development, Iflytek's voice technology has been applied all over the country, covering not only nearly 30 provinces in Chinese mainland, but also Hong Kong and Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, North America and other markets. It has been successfully applied to more than 20 industries such as telecommunications, securities, banking, electric power and education, and has been identified as an "Olympic-oriented multilingual information service system" by the Olympic Organizing Committee and the 863 Expert Group. Iflytek's speech products have occupied 80% of the mainstream application market of speech synthesis. In 2003, IT was named "Top Ten Enterprises with the Most Growth Potential in China Communication Industry" by Communication World, the largest publication in China communication industry, which completely changed the situation that China voice market was almost monopolized by foreign IT giants 99 years ago. The market value of Iflytek has also increased from 3 million yuan when IT started its business to 220 million yuan when Lenovo and Intel jointly invested in June 2006, a 70-fold increase in two years, creating another miracle in the IT history of China.
