Eight years ago, a heroic boy was born in Hebei - Shen Yifei. He started studying at the age of 4, entered the first grade of primary school at the age of 5, and only attended junior high school for two years. At the age of 15, he became a teenager. Admitted to Wu Jianxiong College of Southeast University, majoring in information science and engineering.
Eight years have passed, Shen Yifei has not only achieved outstanding results, but also made outstanding contributions in 5G technology.
1. Hebei boy Shen Yifei
In 1997, Shen Yifei was born in Handan City, Hebei Province. Due to the education he received from his parents, he was smart and had a strong memory since he was a child. He began to recognize children when he was two years old. He is literate in words and numbers, and started reading by himself at the age of 4.
Seeing that his parents loved learning very much, they sent him to first grade when he was 5 years old. Unexpectedly, his academic performance has always been very good from elementary school to junior high school. He only attended junior high school for two years and then went to high school.
Shen Yifei not only loves reading, he also has many interests, such as go, chess, riddles, etc. In addition, he is also very accomplished in music. He practiced the erhu to play level 7 pieces, and in just 4 months, he was already familiar with it.
Shen Yifei was like this. When she was a sophomore in high school, she took the college entrance examination and achieved excellent results. She was successfully admitted to Wu Jianxiong College of Southeast University to study information science and engineering. The year was 2012, when he was just 15 years old, and a heroic boy was "born out of the blue".
2. Overcoming difficulties
At the age of 15, many people have just entered high school, but Shen Yifei went to college ahead of others. However, he still looks like a junior high school student. In addition to studying, he also likes to play. Compared with his classmates in the same grade, his grades are only above average. As the number of courses in his sophomore year increased and the learning difficulty increased, he felt even more inadequate. Two subjects actually failed to meet the standards.
There are only two years left until graduation. If he doesn’t study hard, it will be unthinkable, he thought to himself.
After making up his mind, he began to adjust his mentality and use more time to study seriously. Every morning, he came to the reading room of the library very early and studied until ten o'clock in the evening.
It was with this tenacity that Shen Yifei achieved almost perfect results in the final exam of her junior year at the end of June 2015: all 19 professional-related courses scored above 90, including 8. Get perfect scores. Especially for the professional course "Electromagnetic Fields and Electromagnetic Waves", he scored a high score of 98 points, ranking first among the students who offered this course at Wu Jianxiong College and the School of Information Engineering!
In the end, at the age of 18, he was recommended as a graduate student in the School of Information Engineering as he ranked first among the recommended students in his major.
Today, Shen Yifei is a 2019 doctoral candidate in the School of Information Science and Engineering of Southeast University.
3. Outstanding achievements
During her studies at school, Shen Yifei won many honorary titles, such as "Excellent League Member", "Three Good Students", "Top Ten University Students", "Southeast University "Excellent Student in Learning" and so on. He also won the title of "Star of Self-improvement among Chinese College Students" in 2015.
Up to now, he has published 6 SCI papers, 8 EI papers, authorized 3 national invention patents, and guided the Southeast University undergraduate team to win the 2019 IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Student Design Competition Asia Pacific Champion.
It is worth mentioning that as early as 17 years old, Shen Yifei had already become a core member of the 5G technology research and development team at that time. The three technology patents he invented have built a strict technological fortress against Western companies and achieved a technological blockade against European and American companies.
One of the technologies, polar code technology, was recognized by the association IEEE in 2016 and is advanced, so it has become the implementation standard of the global 5G industry, indirectly allowing China's 5G technology raises eyebrows around the world.
This year, there is another good news. The International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Circuits and Systems Society announced that student Shen Yifei won the 2020 IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Doctoral Scholarship (Pre-Doctoral Scholarship). What is enviable is that this is the first time a mainland university has won this award.
