Hitachi releases new environmentally friendly elevator using energy regeneration technology

On April 22, 2008, Hitachi Group joined forces with Hitachi Building Systems Company and Hitachi Elevator (China) Company to participate in the "2008 Hebei Langfang" China International Elevator Exhibition". The "energy saving + energy regeneration" products exhibited by Hitachi Elevator - HEP energy regeneration passenger elevator and HX new generation escalator, put forward newer environmental protection ideas for this exhibition.

As one of Hitachi's main products this time, the HEP energy regeneration passenger elevator fully embodies the design concept of "energy regeneration". HEP can convert the mechanical energy generated by the elevator movement into high-purity electrical energy when the elevator is moving downwards with a heavy load or upward with a light load, and returns it to the power grid to be used by other elevators or electrical equipment in the same nearby power grid.

Another major product, Hitachi HX new generation escalator, is the first in the industry to create a new integrated concept, which enables the combined assembly of escalators to simultaneously meet the dual needs of precision and efficiency, with significant energy savings. The new generation 32-bit microcomputer processing system it uses is small in size, highly integrated, and runs at more than 20 times the speed of ordinary 8-bit microcomputers, greatly improving the energy-saving effect. In addition, HX uses advanced frequency conversion technology, which can reduce energy consumption by 10% to 40%. The optimized design of the main engine and transmission system significantly reduces energy consumption by up to 25%.

Unlike HEP, "energy saving in the upstream and power generation in the downstream", that is, "energy saving + regeneration" is the biggest feature of Hitachi HX. When the escalator goes up, through Hitachi's patented VLR technology, the control system can detect the passenger flow in real time, and optimize the output power of the escalator through vector calculations to achieve high efficiency and energy saving throughout the entire process. The energy saving effect can be as high as 30 %. When the escalator goes down, Hitachi's unique energy regeneration technology and PLL switching technology are used to safely return the escalator's regenerated energy back to the power grid for use by other equipment in the building.

In addition to the "green concept", humanization and safety are also one of the key contents launched by Hitachi at this exhibition, including "intelligent behavior recognition system", "elevator door opening and closing safety monitoring system", "escalator safety monitoring system" A series of advanced technologies and products developed by Hitachi, such as "collision detection device" and "intelligent security system (finger vein authentication device)", also attracted widespread attention from the participants.

Hitachi’s “Intelligent Behavior Recognition System (HERIOS Watcher)” is equipped with the world’s leading “normal behavior learning system” and “abnormal behavior detection technology”. Through Hitachi's unique portrait recognition technology, the "intelligent behavior recognition system" can effectively monitor behaviors that have adverse effects and criminal behaviors during elevator operation, and respond in a targeted manner, like an ever-present "elevator safety guard" ". For example, when intimidation, violent behavior, or violent movements that cause abnormal conditions in the elevator are detected, the elevator will first give a voice reminder. If the behavior continues, the elevator will automatically stop at the nearest floor and send an alarm signal to notify the elevator manager.

In addition, the "intelligent behavior recognition system" also has a "stay detection" function. Contrary to the violence detection function mentioned above, this function reacts to long periods of inactivity of the passenger. For example, if a passenger collapses due to a sudden illness or is unable to move due to abnormal physical condition, after a certain period of time, the elevator will call the passenger via voice, issue an alarm to notify the elevator manager, and then automatically run to the floor preset by the system (for example, The floor where the management staff is located), open the elevator door and wait. As a result, passengers have a higher chance of receiving timely rescue.

The "elevator door opening and closing safety monitoring system" and "escalator anti-collision detection device" and other products are also designed and manufactured to further improve the safety of passengers entering and exiting the elevator and riding the escalator.
