Familiarity here is not that you brag about how well you know users, nor that you have simply made dozens of user return visits, but that it comes from the number of users you personally promote. At least, I think that in this magical country of China, to be a top product manager, you need to personally promote more than 6,543,800 users. Only when the number of users you personally contact and promote reaches a certain level can you change from quantitative change to qualitative change, from rookie to ashes, and you can have enough understanding of human nature. Only in this way can you know what users really like? What are they sensitive to? Why did they click on your product? How many steps have they taken to achieve your product? Only by clarifying these can you really understand the users you serve! And you should know that experience is the most unreliable thing in the Internet industry. The subdivision of the industry will lead to different characteristics of users. Those who play games can't make tools, and those who do media can't do e-commerce. What's more, the user's habits change by leaps and bounds, and the grasp of user habits is definitely a day's difference in Sanqiu. So, those who think that anyone can make products by their own imagination can wash and sleep! What you do is not a product, but a bunch of useless functions, and you feel good about yourself. As a result, your company will die, your users will scold your mother, waste your colleagues' energy and ruin the company's life!
Second, do you know enough about technology?
Perhaps many students will open their mouths to list many stories about how technical idiots become awesome! But in my opinion, the top product managers in China, whether Zhang Xiaolong or Ma, whether Zhou or Reebs, have profound technical accumulation. It is this accumulation of technology for many years that ensures that they have a width that ordinary people can't reach when thinking about problems. A product manager who has written code, is familiar with technical architecture and related technical principles, and the chances of success in making excellent products are far greater than those of technical idiots! Because he can reduce the hesitation in technical decision-making as much as possible, and avoid some so-called ineffective and inefficient communication with siege engineers who are not good at communication, he can spend more time thinking about the logical structure marketing and promotion of products. He can tell Cheng directly, what does so-and-so need to do? What is the implementation process? What is the design principle? Even hand in hand to tell each other how to write the code? How to grasp the key points? In the face of this product designed by the product manager, no matter how proud the master and Cheng are, it is difficult to find fault, only worship! For the product manager of the internet, if you don't know technology, you will be lame, even if you have three legs!
Third, I have done operations and am extremely sensitive to data.
For the operation, it should be simple enough and complicated enough! But it is such a simple sentence: whether it is the Internet or the mobile Internet, whether it is playing games or doing community, it needs to be extremely sensitive to data! every day
Eight hours can spend half the time on data. Read data at work, talk about data when chatting, think about data when eating, and save three times a day when sleeping. You can find what you want from the complicated data, and you can verify your analysis and judgment through modeling, parameters and data. Any decision-making behavior of the product manager is not made by the head, but supported by big data, and there are many cases analyzed! All decisions in this world are related to probability. A winner has a high probability of success from what he does, and a loser has a high probability of failure from what he does! The judgment of probability is inseparable from the treasure of data. At this time, the technical advantages mentioned above began to play a role again. A product manager with a technical background and good at data analysis is definitely not just icing on the cake!
Fourth, I have done marketing and know how to land!
Marketing is divided into two levels, one is business and the other is sales. Camp is planning and marketing is means. Only people who have done marketing will try to think about what customers/users need. How can I satisfy him? What is the selling point of my product? In what way and strategy do I need to convey my selling point? What are the customer's weaknesses? How do I need to use it? How can I have sex with him? If a product manager can only build a car behind closed doors and not see customers, I am sure that the products he designs are either strategically located or too vulgar! You know, in this society, some things have some feelings, one is too fat and the other is too thin! For product managers, it is of great benefit to master how to grasp this degree and do marketing or sales!
Fifth, the logic is clear and the circle should be completed.
In fact, this is the basic ability of product managers, but I mention it here because I have met nearly 100 product managers, but most of them only know the cause and effect, not the cycle. I only know one, but I don't know the other. The difference between ordinary and top-level products is that top-level product managers can clearly know what their goals are when designing products. What are the steps? Do you know where it came from? Where are you going? Do you know what functions should be put? Which functions must be collected? What are drug primers? What is the tipping point? Know who to aim at and what story to tell. Do you know what scene to face and what to highlight? Logical clarity is not only to know the cause and effect, but also to have a clear judgment on the whole product chain, industrial chain and business chain. Otherwise, partial victory and overall failure will not be the legend written in the book!
Sixth, be good at borrowing, everything is your whetstone!
Most product managers suffer indignities at both ends and are squeezed out on all sides. It is not popular in technology (urging people to die every day) and controversial in sales (it is a product problem that cannot be sold). In fact, it is to face the pressure of leaders (products are the easiest to ask questions, just give you a few dishes on the street), and the future is to face the expectations of users (why is this TMD function so difficult to use? )。 After the vicissitudes of wind and frost, destruction and blow, I can't help but feel disheartened, dejected, upset and hesitant. But in fact, if you put the role of product manager into the society, your role will be clear. You are a small company. You have to face the government, shareholders, customers, employees, users and families. The government thinks you evade taxes, customers think you are a shell company, shareholders think you can't succeed, employees follow you in the dark, users think you are unreliable, and wives think you are a loser. At this time, do you choose to jump off a building and start over? Or choose to stick to it? What is clear is that almost all people who choose to jump off a building can't start all over again. After you jump off a building and reshuffle, your resources, relationships, contacts and credit accumulation will all go up in smoke. The only thing you can do is to build good relationships, make good products and win the trust of customers step by step! Put it on the product manager, then others will abuse me a thousand times, and I will wait like the first love. Sales volume, channels, users, competitors, company technology, patents, company size, nature, qualification and brand are all your cards. Good cards don't necessarily win. Similarly, bad cards don't necessarily lose. If you can exert all your strength to the extreme, I believe brother, you will never be an ordinary product manager, and there will be a seat for Liangshan heroes! ! !
