Many people pin their dreams of sports cars on electric cars, because it is relatively easy for electric cars to achieve high performance. In other words, the price may come down. However, foreign brands have no enthusiasm for electric sports cars, and they will not lower their prices because motors save money than engines. Until a domestic electric sports car appeared, the zero-running S0 1 had nothing to do with brand, performance and tonality, but at least a sports car shell was made.

Later, the small sports car SC-0 1 also came out, claiming to be the first young people's sports car, with dual-motor four-wheel drive, which broke 100 in 4 seconds. However, it is still expensive for ordinary people to sell nearly 300 thousand.

Now, it's our turn to be the protagonist today, the MG Cyberster, a two-door electric sports car. Brand is a disadvantage, but what if I give you an impeccable price? Now MG can be seen from MG7. What it does is lift the table. ...

The design of Cyberster

In a word, Cyberster should be the most similar car to MG, because before MG was sold to China, the whole brand was closely related to sports, and they especially liked to make small sports cars for ordinary people. The late Queen Elizabeth was once a loyal owner of MG.

However, since she sold herself, MG has not only been affiliated with Nanjing Automobile, but also produced TF, a small sports car, which is a pure British sports car left by MG before selling herself. Later, when she arrived at SAIC, she was completely making a purely domestic family car in a sports coat. But now, Cyperster and others have found a little bit of the feeling of the past, and they want to sell this car back to the UK.

Especially the concept car that was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show before, with extremely low and wide body, oversized wheels, ultra-thin tires, two doors and two seats, scissor doors, a convertible ... every place is in my aesthetic point.

However, the concept car cannot be used as a reference. Now that the production version has been exposed, it is not as arrogant as the previous concept car. However, the core two-door and two-seat, scissor door and soft-top convertible are retained. The overall feeling is a little Mazda MX-5, but the design is more radical.

The interior has also been exposed, known as the "pure electric super-running e-sports cockpit", and its name is crazy and cool. There are two key points: first, dual screen+half steering wheel. I have reservations about half steering wheel, or I hope to provide the choice of ordinary steering wheel. Second, the interior layout is very combative, and the overall situation is obviously biased towards the main driver. The main driver's seat is wrapped up, and the key shift is very British.

At present, more information has not been exposed. In the original concept car, there was an L3 autopilot, but the regulations did not allow it. It is estimated that the production version has at least L2 autopilot.

What's the performance of Cybertron?

The electric age has given domestic manufacturers a shortcut to try high-performance models. In the early years, a fuel-powered sports car like Geely Beauty Leopard had a sports car shell, and the contents were limited by the technology at that time, and only tens of thousands of pieces were dared to be sold. But now, at least technically, we also have the foundation to make sports cars. Even if others use engines, we use motors.

Previously, it was a dual-motor four-wheel drive in the concept car, which broke 1800 kilometers in 3 seconds. Don't take this data seriously. The concept car is only responsible for one concept, and everything else is realized by PPT. The production version has been confirmed, which will be divided into single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. Personally, I guess that the single-motor rear drive will break 100 in more than 6 seconds, and the dual-motor four-wheel drive will break 100 in about 4 seconds, and the endurance can be marked as 4-500 kilometers.

Of course, motivation is only part of performance. Sports cars are not the type of flying bricks. Chassis and handling are more important. So don't look at the straight line between 86 and BRZ, but you can take off as long as there is a bend. This is a challenge for MG, who has lost all the sports car technology for so many years. Now MG is not the same as MG in those years. In essence, MG is a domestic manufacturer supported by SAIC, and even SAIC has no experience in manufacturing sports cars.

At the same time, due to the weight of the battery pack, electric vehicles are very conducive to low center of gravity, which is an advantage. But on the other hand, the overweight battery on the sports car is a lightweight debuff, depending on how MG is balanced. After all, a sports car is not a coupe, but it depends largely on lightweight, which directly affects the chassis and handling.

The concept car has two technologies, which may land in the production version. One is CTP technology, which means there is no modular battery. This technology is very popular in Contemporary Ampere Technology Co., Ltd., and SAIC also has a CTP production line. The so-called module-free battery requires a lot of technology and packaging. If you reduce these processes and packaging, it is equivalent to less swimming pools in your home and higher room rates. The battery pack with the same volume has higher utilization rate per unit volume and higher energy density.

The other is a brand-new 8-layer hairpin motor developed by SAIC, and "hairpin" means hair. This is a technology to reduce the heating and energy loss of the motor. The motor of Porsche Taycan is such a technology. Compared with the conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor, the power and energy consumption are improved.

How much will it cost?

I remember that at the Shanghai Auto Show on 202 1, some media asked the staff of MG how much this car would cost, and the answer given by the other party was about 200,000.

Of course, it does not rule out that the MG wants to do something. As long as the motor power is reduced, the battery capacity is reduced, and the gimmicks are configured (large tires, multi-piston calipers, leather interiors, driver assistance, etc. ), the starting price can be less than 200,000, such as198,800 or even189,800. Then, the price of dual-motor four-wheel drive is around 250 thousand, which I think is more reasonable.

Personally, I guess the final price range of this car should be around 200,000-250,000.
