LetsGoDigital, a Dutch technology blog, pointed out that the folding screen device adopts a flexible screen scheme, so it is easier to cause creases when pressure is exerted on the screen, so it is difficult for manufacturers to equip such smart phones with an off-screen fingerprint module.
However, with the emergence of new patents, it means that Samsung may have found a way to overcome this problem, and even allowed the off-screen fingerprint recognition function to be enabled on the internal and external screens of the Galaxy Z Fold.

To this end, Samsung envisages placing the fingerprint sensor at the lower left of the inner screen and placing it in the center of the bottom of the outer screen. Obviously, this requires placing a special printed circuit board (PCB) between the sensors and connecting it to the motherboard in some way.
A few months ago, several other patents submitted by Samsung were exposed online, one of which also mentioned the off-screen fingerprint sensor suitable for folding screen devices, but during this period, we have not been able to see a separate document to describe the related technical applications.

Considering that Galaxy Z Fold3 has only been on the market for one and a half months, it is estimated that we will have to wait at least 10 months to learn more details about Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4.
Looking forward to next year, Samsung may further lower the threshold of folding screen equipment, and it is foreseeable that more brands will enter this field in the next six months. Even Google is expected to show the legendary pixel folding before the end of 202 1.
