Why is it so difficult to go through the production procedures after applying for a patent for traditional Chinese medicine?

It is precisely because China Food and Drug Administration has raised some standards and requirements in the examination and approval process that many new products of traditional Chinese medicine can't "pass the customs".

Traditional Chinese medicine and new drugs are always "difficult to produce", and we should also face up to our own reasons. The basic research of traditional Chinese medicine is still very weak, and there is no scientific basis in terms of pharmacodynamic mechanism and side effects. At the same time, the prescriptions prescribed by some enterprises are similar and repetitive, which is also one of the reasons.

Deputy Pang, president of Kaifeng Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Henan Province, said that the safety and effectiveness of in-hospital preparations have passed long-term clinical tests and are an important path for innovation of traditional Chinese medicine. He pointed out that the research and development of new Chinese medicine has a large investment and a long cycle, and the relevant administrative departments can take the lead in uniformly screening hospital preparations in various hospitals, and further explore and develop those with obvious characteristics and outstanding curative effects. Deputy Si Fuchun, director of the Science and Technology Achievements Promotion Center of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pointed out that in the process of research and development of new Chinese medicine, attention should also be paid to the protection of intellectual property rights of new drugs.
