It is recognized throughout the world that photography was invented by French L. Daguerre. France announced to the world on August 19, 1839. L. Daguerre's full name is Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre. Born in 1787 - died in 1851.
In 1841, the optician Vogeland invented the first camera with an all-metal body. The camera is equipped with the world's first photographic lens designed by mathematical calculations with a maximum phase aperture of 1:3.4. ?
In 1861, physicist Maxwell invented the world's first color photograph.
Photography was introduced to China during the Qing Dynasty. After the daguerreotype was invented in France in 1837, it was introduced to China from the West within a few years. The earliest camera was brought to China in 1846 by Jules Ittier, a Frenchman who worked at the Chinese Customs.
Extended information
The world’s first photograph dates back 193 years. During the First Industrial Revolution, European scientists improved their understanding of photosensitive substances and object imaging through research. In 1826, Niepce, a Frenchman who had been interested in inventions since childhood, used the solar etching method to take the first surviving photo in human history: "Landscape from the Window" based on previous research.
It took Niepce a full eight hours to obtain the photo. In order to improve the exposure imaging time, he found the stage designer Daguerre. The two worked together to refine the technique, eventually publishing Daguerreotype in 1839. This is the true beginning of photography in human history.
In the following 50 years, although photography technology has been evolving to shorten exposure times, giving birth to wet plate photography and dry plate photography, the entire set of photographic equipment is still very bulky and difficult to carry.
An article in "China Photography" described the popular wet plate photography method in the mid-19th century: "When photographers go out to shoot, they must carry light-blocking tents, chemicals, glass sheets, bulky stands and a A jug of water, a full outfit and often a whole wagon.”
