Hisilicon Kirin 659 continues the manufacturing process of TSMC 16 nm FinFET Plus, with eight A53 low-power core combinations and an i5 coprocessor integrated.
Kirin659 belongs to Huawei's mobile chip. Kirin 659 is an upgraded version of Kirin 658. Kirin 659 focuses on low power consumption. The processor is manufactured by TSMC using 16 nm FinFET Plus process. The core architecture consists of eight A53+ 1 i5 coprocessors, which continues the Mali T830-MP2 GPU.
This time, the core performance has been slightly upgraded. The four high-frequency cores are 2.36GHz, and the main frequency of the small core is not changed to 1.7GHz. Apart from performance, the highlight of this processor lies in the organic combination of its advanced technology and high-performance A53 core, which can save more power while ensuring performance.
In addition, the i5 coprocessor can process the information of each sensor in real time with extremely low power consumption, effectively reducing the power consumption of light application scenarios such as sports information recording, music playing and standby, and improving endurance.
At present, the models equipped with kirin659 processor are Huawei Nova2 and Nova2 Puls, which use 4GB of running memory and combine with Huawei's customized EMUI to ensure system fluency, achieve lower power consumption and extend the battery life of mobile phones.
