PM9 submachine gun is a 9mm submachine gun designed and produced in France. French MGD company obtained a patent in 1955, also known as MGD submachine gun.
abstract
PM9 submachine gun was invented by Frenchman Louis Desbuttes in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The idea behind this unusual and little-known weapon is to provide a compact and easy-to-hide low recoil submachine gun. Gun participated in the selection of French submachine gun and lost to MAT49 submachine gun.
overall situation
PM9 submachine gun mainly adopts metal folding stock, with a caliber of 9mm, and fires 9mm Barabellum bullets. The length of the whole gun is 639mm/359mm (the butt is opened/folded), the barrel length is 2 13mm, and the weight of the whole gun is 3. 17kg (with empty magazine). It uses 32 magazines to load ammunition, and the theoretical firing rate is 750 rounds per minute. In addition to the metal folding stock, some PM9 submachine guns use wooden folding stock, and the overall weight of the gun is slightly heavier than the metal stock.
structure principle
PM9 submachine gun adopts the principle of free gun automatic, and can choose single shot or multiple shots. The gun has a special structure, and its bolt is driven by a driving mechanism, which consists of a flywheel, a shaft and a crank, which has the defects of difficult processing and high cost. Before shooting, the shooter needs to turn the flywheel counterclockwise by pulling the handle on the right side of the gun. At this time, the flywheel is fixed by the resistance iron.
When the shooter pulls the trigger, the trigger releases the flywheel, and the flywheel moves clockwise to drive the bolt to complete the firing cycle. When the gun is fired, the handle does not follow because of the internal leverage. In other words, the relationship between the handle and flywheel of the PM9 submachine gun is similar to that of the piston and crankshaft of the engine.
The puller handle (piston) rotates counterclockwise, forcing the flywheel (crankshaft) to rotate. The flywheel pushes the spring to rotate, and its inertia and spring pressure together make the bolt close for a long time to reduce the bore pressure to a safe level.
Folding design
PM9 submachine gun adopts folding stock design, and its stock can be folded 180, making the total length of the gun only 359mm;; At the same time, the magazine seat of the gun can also be folded and placed horizontally under the barrel.
eliminate
PM9 submachine gun once participated in the selection of French submachine gun, and the last one was MAT49 submachine gun. The gun was eliminated because its bolt system was too complicated and required a lot of time-consuming and laborious metal processing such as milling. Around 1955, France produced some PM9 submachine guns, but they were not adopted and did not achieve commercial success. 1956, the German company Ermayina purchased the production license of the gun, but finally gave up the imitation of the gun and only produced a small number of test guns.
