Jiang Biao’s profile

After returning to China, he mainly engaged in high-tech research on the total synthesis of marine natural products using asymmetric synthesis methodology. He has successively won the first National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission Morning Star Program Fund, the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ “95” Key Scientific Research Program, the National Planning Commission’s 95 Research Program, the National “973”, the National Ministry of Science and Technology’s “863”, and the Shanghai Municipal “10th Five-Year Plan” Major, supported by the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” major fund of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. A carbon-carbon asymmetric addition reaction induced by chloramphenicol as a chiral ligand was discovered. And successfully used in the synthesis of anti-AIDS drugs. Systematically study the asymmetric synthesis of marine indole alkaloids and test their anti-cancer physiological activity. In charge of the "863" project, he creatively discovered pure red light materials and blue light materials. Completed research on biodegradable polymer PDLLA and transformed it into industry. He has published more than 90 articles and obtained more than 30 domestic and foreign patents. Many inventions and technologies have been transformed into industrial production. Successfully listed the high-tech enterprise Zhongke Hechen Co., Ltd. It has trained more than 20 doctoral students, 8 of whom have obtained degrees. Trained more than 20 postdoctoral fellows (corporate postdoctoral fellows). He has been invited to give invited reports at many international conferences. Dr. Jiang Biao has been awarded the Advanced Science and Technology Worker of the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1995, the Advanced Young Science and Technology Worker of the Shanghai Science and Technology System in 1996, the Second Top Ten Science and Technology Stars of Shanghai, and the China Outstanding Youth Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Award in 1996. Qiushi Foundation "Outstanding Young Scholar Award" in 1996, Shanghai's Top Ten Outstanding Young Scholars in 1997, Shanghai's Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow in 1997, Chinese Academy of Sciences' Second Prize in Natural Science in 1997, Shanghai's Advanced Individual for Returned Overseas Students in 1997, China in 2000 Association for Science and Technology Qiushi Outstanding Youth Award, 2001 World Chinese Organic Chemistry Conference Outstanding Youth Award, 2001 Shanghai Xu Guangqi Science and Technology Award, 2002 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress First Prize, 2003 Wu Yunchu Chemical Science and Technology Progress Award, 2003 Chinese Reform Figure Excellence Award, the Outstanding Communist Party Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Fighting against SARS in 2003, the Outstanding Communist Party Member of Shanghai in Fighting against SARS in 2003, and was selected into the National New Century Talents Project in 2004. Jiang Biao is a young chemist with strong professionalism, patriotism, creativity and remarkable achievements.

On October 9, 2012, he was appointed deputy director of the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Study (director level, 5-year term).
