Joseph F. Engelberger (July 26, 1925 - December 1, 2015), American, developed the world's first industrial robot in 1959 , known as the "Father of Robotics". Joseph Engelberg is one of the world's most renowned roboticists. Engelberg was born in Brooklyn, New York, to a German immigrant family in 1925.

As a lover of technology and science fiction, this young man who joined the army at the age of 17 first studied physics at Columbia University, and then spent three years obtaining a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the school. In 1956, Engelberg bought George DeVore's "Programmed Parts Transfer Equipment" patent. In 1957, they founded the universal automation company Unimation, which was also the world's first robot company.

He said that it was because of Engelberg that robots became a global industry. He was able to associate robots with insects, birds and other life forms decades ago, and he was ahead of the times.

Due to Engelberg's great contributions to the field of robotics, he was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
